CarGurus Analysis: 2020 Audi Q7
overall

Summary
With 1,014 currently listed for sale and an average price of $24,695, 34.4% of 2020 Audi Q7s for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2020 Audi Q7 5 / 5 stars and CarGurus experts gave it a 7.67 / 10.
77.0% of 2020 Q7 models on CarGurus are accident free.
Why it stands out
The 2020 Audi Q7 stands out as a refreshed midsize luxury SUV that gets a thorough update to its styling, interior, powertrain, and technology. Those changes help keep it competitive in the midsize luxury SUV class, and the test drive notes also point to a vehicle that is fun to drive and powered by a strong engine. For buyers who want a premium three-row SUV that feels modern and polished, that combination is a major part of its appeal.
At the same time, the 2020 Audi Q7 is not without compromises. The third row is cramped, and cargo space is limited, which can matter for families who need maximum room for people and gear. Owner feedback reinforces the Q7’s upscale character, with praise for its luxurious features, smooth and quiet ride, comfort, safety features, and drivability, while also noting concerns about price and storage.

In a very short amount of time with this car, it has shown me what a good luxury SUV should and can feel like. Drive is fantastic, interior is no fuss and well put together, outside of the lack of useful "pocket/hidden" storage, it is absolutely a delight to own.

Excellent safety features and a solid vehicle for the ride. You get what you pay for .My prior one was 3 years old and as solid as when it was new. Storage in the front center counsel could be better for women who have purses but otherwise fit/finish and quality shine through. Extended Lexus SUV and Volvo C 90 are close competitors but hate the Lexus front end ( aesthetics ) and Volvo is a box.

I have owned 3 of the Q7s and enjoy the comfort, driveability, and is great in the snow. Other models are the Lexus, which is boring; Honda Pilot not as luxurious and the Lincoln Navigator which is a tank.

Owners consistently praise its luxurious features, smooth and quiet ride, comfort, and drivability, and many also like how it handles in snowy conditions. The overview also points to a refreshed three-row luxury SUV that feels modern and polished, with a strong engine and engaging driving character.
The trade-offs are clear: the third row is cramped, and cargo space is limited. The expert notes also point to some frustrating ADAS behavior and an infotainment setup that can be finicky at times.
With its premium three-row layout and updated tech, it fits you best if you want a refined family SUV that feels upscale rather than maximally spacious. Good and great deals account for 36.0% of listings, so there are still some attractive opportunities in the market.
Is the 2020 Audi Q7 reliable?
Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
Owner feedback emphasizes that the Q7 feels luxurious, comfortable, smooth, quiet, and dependable enough to inspire confidence over time. The expert notes also describe the drivetrain as well-rounded, with responsive acceleration and a mild-hybrid system that works transparently in daily driving.
Audi’s 48-volt mild-hybrid setup helps reduce engine load and conserve fuel, which supports efficient, low-drama operation. The first scheduled maintenance visit is on the house, which is a nice ownership perk.
For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about basic dependability and more about higher ownership costs if you need repairs, premium-brand service, or replacement of complex tech features.
What should I look for when buying a used 2020 Audi Q7?
Accident-free inventory is solid at 77.1% — always verify the vehicle history report.
You should still check the history report carefully, because a clean listing percentage does not replace a proper records review. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that focuses on the third row, cargo area, infotainment operation, and any signs of wear from family use. It also makes sense to confirm that the driver-assistance systems, headlights, and suspension features work as expected.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The Q7 is available in Premium, Premium Plus, and Prestige trim levels. The base trim gives you the core luxury-SUV experience, while higher trims add more convenience and technology, and the Prestige upgrade brings the most upscale equipment.
- Powertrain: The 55 TFSI uses a turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 with 335 horsepower and 369 pound-feet of torque, paired with a 48-volt mild-hybrid system and an eight-speed automatic transmission. Audi also offers a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder in 45 TFSI versions, and the SQ7 uses a twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8.
- Safety package: Audi’s advanced driver-assistance suite includes Emergency Assist, Turn Assist, and Adaptive Cruise Assist with adaptive cruise control, traffic-jam assistance, and lane-centering assistance. The Executive Package on Premium Plus trim or the Prestige trim adds more of these features.
- Infotainment: The Q7 uses a dual-screen setup with a 10.1-inch upper touchscreen and an 8.6-inch lower touchscreen. It includes wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, navigation with Google Earth imagery, voice recognition, handwriting recognition, and Audi Connect services with a 4G LTE WiFi hotspot.
- Fuel efficiency: The EPA says the Q7 should get 18 mpg combined, and the test vehicle averaged 21 mpg on a road trip and 18.1 mpg on a fuel-economy loop.
Which 2020 Audi Q7 trim should I buy?
The 2020 Audi Q7 is offered in 3 trim levels: Premium, Premium Plus, and Prestige.
Here's the short version:
- Premium: This is the entry point if you want the Q7’s standard luxury basics, including Quattro all-wheel drive, leather upholstery, and a third-row seat. It makes sense if you want the Q7’s core strengths without stretching for extra equipment.
- Premium Plus: This is the best-value trim if you want a stronger mix of convenience and available safety tech. It’s the trim to target if you want more of the Q7’s advanced driver-assistance content without going all the way to the top.
- Prestige: This is the most fully equipped version, adding the richest mix of comfort, tech, and upscale touches. It suits you best if you want the most polished Q7 experience and are willing to pay for it.
For safety-package shoppers, the Executive Package on Premium Plus or the Prestige trim is where you’ll find the upgraded driver-assistance content.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2020 Audi Q7?
This is a moderate market for selective buyers, with enough inventory to shop carefully and enough price softness to create opportunities.
- Deal availability: 36.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 1,001 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 12.24% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 77.1% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $24,574, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2020 Audi Q7's resale value?
The current average of $24,639 sits slightly below last year's $28,077.
That decline suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you as a buyer today but may limit upside if you plan to resell soon. If you buy at the right price, you reduce the chance of taking a bigger hit later. The Q7’s premium positioning and strong feature set can still support demand, especially for well-kept examples with desirable equipment.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2020 Audi Q7 safe?
The 2020 Audi Q7 earns a Top Safety Pick+ rating from IIHS, though its headlights are rated poor.
It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.
Audi equips the Q7 with advanced driver-assistance systems that include Emergency Assist, Turn Assist, and Adaptive Cruise Assist with adaptive cruise control, traffic-jam assistance, and lane-centering assistance. Higher trims or the Executive Package on Premium Plus bring more of this safety content, while the base setup is less comprehensive.
The main caveat is the headlight result, which keeps the Q7 from being fully clean in safety testing despite otherwise strong crash protection.
Should I buy a 2020 Audi Q7 or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2020 if:
- 36.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Accident-free inventory is solid at 77.1% — always verify the vehicle history report.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 12.24% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
- The 2020 model year brings a thorough refresh to the styling, interior, powertrain, and technology, keeping the Q7 competitive in the midsize luxury SUV class.
The bottom line: If you want the most modern-feeling version of this Q7 generation, the 2020 model is the one to target. If your priority is stretching your budget, a nearby older year may be worth considering, but the 2020’s update makes it the more compelling choice when you want newer tech and a fresher cabin.
