CarGurus Analysis: 2020 Audi Q7

Summary
With 137 currently listed for sale near Nashville, TN and an average price of $22,026.00, 22.6% of 2020 Audi Q7s for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2020 Audi Q7 5 / 5 stars and CarGurus experts gave it a 7.67 / 10.
92.0% of 2020 Q7 models on CarGurus are accident free.
Why it stands out
The 2020 Audi Q7 stands out as a refreshed midsize luxury SUV that gets a thorough update to its styling, interior, powertrain, and technology. Those changes help keep it competitive in a crowded class, and the test drive data frames it as a strong alternative among high-end three-row SUVs. It also has a clear appeal for buyers who want something that feels polished and modern without losing the upscale character expected from an Audi.
On the road, the Q7’s strengths are easy to understand: it is fun to drive and has a powerful engine. Owners also praise its luxurious features, smooth and quiet ride, and strong comfort, with many noting that it feels especially capable in snowy conditions. The tradeoffs are just as important, though, because the third row is cramped and cargo space is limited, and some owners also feel the vehicle is overpriced with storage options that are not especially generous.

In a very short amount of time with this car, it has shown me what a good luxury SUV should and can feel like. Drive is fantastic, interior is no fuss and well put together, outside of the lack of useful "pocket/hidden" storage, it is absolutely a delight to own.

Excellent safety features and a solid vehicle for the ride. You get what you pay for .My prior one was 3 years old and as solid as when it was new. Storage in the front center counsel could be better for women who have purses but otherwise fit/finish and quality shine through. Extended Lexus SUV and Volvo C 90 are close competitors but hate the Lexus front end ( aesthetics ) and Volvo is a box.

I have owned 3 of the Q7s and enjoy the comfort, driveability, and is great in the snow. Other models are the Lexus, which is boring; Honda Pilot not as luxurious and the Lincoln Navigator which is a tank.

The trade-offs are important, though: the third row is cramped and cargo space is limited. The expert review also points to a price premium versus some rivals and notes that storage space is not especially generous.
For you, that means the Q7 makes the most sense if you want a polished, upscale family SUV with strong road manners rather than maximum passenger or cargo room. Good and great deals account for 34.9% of listings, so there are still some attractive opportunities if you shop carefully.
Is the 2020 Audi Q7 reliable?
Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
The owner feedback also points to a vehicle that feels reliable, dependable, and trouble-free enough to inspire confidence over time, especially for buyers who want a luxury SUV they can count on. The expert review reinforces that impression by describing the drivetrain as well-rounded and the mild-hybrid system as operating transparently in daily use.
Audi’s 48-volt mild-hybrid setup helps conserve fuel by extending stop/start operation and allowing engine-off coasting, which supports efficient, low-drama operation. The first scheduled maintenance visit is on the house, which is a nice ownership perk.
For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that luxury-SUV ownership can still bring higher repair and upkeep exposure if the vehicle was neglected or heavily optioned without proper maintenance.
What should I look for when buying a used 2020 Audi Q7?
Accident-free inventory is solid at 76.9% — always verify the vehicle history report.
You should still check the history report carefully, because a clean listing percentage does not guarantee a clean individual vehicle. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that focuses on the suspension, electronics, tires, and any signs of uneven wear or prior bodywork. Pay close attention to how the cabin, screens, and driver-assistance features function, since this model leans heavily on technology.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The Q7 is available in Premium, Premium Plus, and Prestige trim levels. The base trim already includes Quattro all-wheel drive, leather upholstery, and a third-row seat, while higher trims add more equipment and the Prestige upgrade brings a more upscale, better-equipped feel.
- Powertrain: The 55 TFSI uses a turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 with 335 horsepower and 369 pound-feet of torque, paired with an eight-speed automatic and Quattro all-wheel drive. The 48-volt mild-hybrid system helps conserve fuel, and the drivetrain is described as quick and responsive.
- Safety package: Audi’s advanced driver-assistance systems include Emergency Assist, Turn Assist, and Adaptive Cruise Assist with adaptive cruise control, traffic-jam assistance, and lane-centering assistance. Premium Plus buyers need the Executive Package for upgrades, while Prestige trims get more of the advanced safety content standard.
- Infotainment: The cabin uses a 10.1-inch upper touchscreen and an 8.6-inch lower touchscreen, plus natural voice recognition, handwriting recognition, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, navigation with Google Earth imagery, and Audi Connect services with a 4G LTE WiFi hotspot.
- Fuel efficiency: Audi says the Q7 should get 18 mpg combined, and the test vehicle averaged 21 mpg on a road trip and returned 18.1 mpg on a local fuel-economy loop.
Which 2020 Audi Q7 trim should I buy?
The 2020 Audi Q7 is offered in 3 trim levels: Premium, Premium Plus, Prestige.
Here's the short version:
- Premium: This is the entry point if you want the Q7’s core strengths without stretching for extras. You still get Quattro all-wheel drive, leather upholstery, and a third-row seat, so it covers the essentials well.
- Premium Plus: This is the best-value trim if you want a stronger mix of equipment and available safety upgrades. It’s the trim that can add more advanced driver-assistance content through the Executive Package, making it the smart middle ground for many shoppers.
- Prestige: This is the trim to choose if you want the most upscale experience and the richest feature set. It adds the most premium feel, including the adaptive air suspension and more of the advanced tech and safety content.
The safety-package upgrades are concentrated in Premium Plus with the Executive Package and in the Prestige trim, so if advanced driver assistance matters to you, start there.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2020 Audi Q7?
This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you’re patient.
- Deal availability: 34.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 1,014 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 12.51% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 76.9% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $24,574.28, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2020 Audi Q7's resale value?
The current average of $24,635 sits slightly below last year's $28,156.
That price movement suggests the Q7 has already absorbed a meaningful amount of depreciation, which can help future resale stability if you buy at the right price. If you purchase near the lower end of the current range and keep the vehicle in strong condition, you may be better positioned when it’s time to sell.
The model’s broad appeal as a polished, well-equipped luxury SUV should help support demand, especially among shoppers who value comfort, technology, and performance. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2020 Audi Q7 safe?
The Audi Q7 earns a Top Safety Pick+ nod from IIHS, but its headlights are rated poor. It also earns a four-star overall rating from NHTSA.
It earns a 8/10 safety score from our experts.
Audi equips the Q7 with Emergency Assist, Turn Assist, and Adaptive Cruise Assist, which includes adaptive cruise control, traffic-jam assistance, and lane-centering assistance. Those features are part of the model’s broader advanced driver-assistance suite, with more content available on Premium Plus through the Executive Package and more standard on Prestige.
The main caveat is the poor IIHS headlight result, which keeps the Q7 from a cleaner safety story. The expert review also notes that the traffic-sign recognition and lane-assist behavior can be frustrating in real-world use.
Should I buy a 2020 Audi Q7 or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2020 if:
- 34.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Accident-free inventory is solid at 76.9% — always verify the vehicle history report.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 12.51% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
- The 2020 update brings refreshed styling, interior, powertrain, and technology that keep it competitive in the midsize luxury SUV class.
The bottom line: If you want the most modern-feeling Q7 in this price band, the 2020 model is the one to target because the refresh gives you a stronger mix of style, tech, and performance. If you’re mainly shopping on price, a nearby older year may cost less, but the 2020 is the better pick when you want the updated cabin and drivetrain without moving to a newer, pricier model.
