The A6 is the middle child in Audi’s sedan lineup, doing battle against the BMW 5 Series, Cadillac CTS, Jaguar XF, Genesis G80, Lexus GS, and Mercedes-Benz E-Class. It was all-new last year and gets light updates this year. Audi offers its 45 TFSI and 55 TFSI powertrains in the A6. The first features a turbocharged 2.0-liter inline 4-cylinder engine with 248 horsepower and 273 pound-feet of torque. The second is a turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 engine with 335 hp and 369 lb-ft. Both come with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission (DCT), “quattro” all-wheel drive (AWD), and mild-hybrid electric vehicle (MHEV) technology. Fuel economy for the A6 is 24 mpg city, 32 highway, and 27 combined for the 45 TFSI setup, or 22, 29, and 24 with the 55 TFSI. You can select from Premium, Premium Plus, and Prestige trims on the A6. The Premium comes with 19-inch wheels, an 8.8-inch infotainment system, navigation, heated front seats, LED lights, dual-zone automatic climate control, contrast stitching, and heated power-folding exterior mirrors. The Premium Plus comes with matrix-design LED headlights, a Bang & Olufsen sound system, a full LCD instrument cluster, a heated steering wheel, and a 10.1-inch infotainment system with navigation. A new Executive package lets you tack on 4-zone automatic climate control, heated rear seats, ventilated front seats, a power open/close trunk, and multicolored ambient lighting. Finally, the Prestige gets everything from the Executive package, along with 12-way power seats. Every A6 now comes with forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, automatic high-beams, and lane-departure warning as well as heated, auto-dimming, and power-folding exterior mirrors. The Prestige grade gets a standard driver-assistance package that bundles adaptive cruise control, traffic-sign recognition, active lane assist with emergency crash evasion, and intersection assist. The 2020 A6 received a 2019 Top Safety Pick+ award from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS).
