CarGurus Analysis: 2020 Acura RDX
overall

Summary
With 1,620 currently listed for sale and an average price of $24,843, 33.6% of 2020 Acura RDXs for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2020 Acura RDX 4.75 / 5 stars and CarGurus experts gave it an 8.5 / 10.
76.9% of 2020 RDX models on CarGurus are accident free.
Why it stands out
The 2020 Acura RDX stands out as a compact luxury crossover that delivers a lot of content for the money. Acura’s 2-row, 5-passenger RDX is built at Honda’s Marysville, Ohio, assembly plant, and the model is described as a crossover built in America for American shoppers. It also entered its third generation with the 2019 model year, and the 2020 vehicle carries over that formula.
What makes the 2020 RDX especially appealing is the combination of space, creature comforts, and safety tech, along with a powerful engine and excellent value for money. It is also said to hold its own against the Mercedes-Benz GLC-Class, Audi Q5, and BMW X3 by offering more content at a lower price, and in some cases better safety technology. Owners echo that appeal, praising its smooth drive, strong performance, great value, and comfortable handling.
The main drawback is its technology, which is described as clunky and unintuitive. Some owners also mention missing features such as a spare tire, adjustable back seats, and a touch screen infotainment system, so the RDX’s strengths in value and comfort come with a few usability compromises.

We test drove a ton of RDX and found that the SH-AWD technology was the best. The seats are the most comfortable of all the packages, the car handles so well compared to the FWD and even FWD A-Spec. We absolutely love it!

The RDX is a very good value for the money, you get more than other comparable SUVs in this price range. What this SUV RDX A-spec trim level is missing is a spare tire. Adjustable back seats would be nice. I really like this RDX!

| Year-Round Low | $24,321 |
| Year-Round High | $26,188 |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $26,188 |
| Change vs. Last Year | −5.05% |

There are 1,622 listings available, which gives you a solid pool of used RDXs to compare.
Is the 2020 Acura RDX a good car?
Yes — the 2020 Acura RDX earns a 4.75/5 user rating and an 8.5/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel, Performance, Form and function, Cost effectiveness, and Safety.
Owners consistently praise the RDX for its smooth drive, strong performance, and great value, along with its comfortable handling and useful feature content. The trade-offs are the unintuitive technology and some missing conveniences that leave a few shoppers wanting more.
That makes the RDX especially appealing if you want a compact luxury crossover that emphasizes space, comfort, and value over a more polished infotainment experience. It also compares well against pricier rivals by offering more content for the money.
With 33.7% of listings marked as good or great deals, there’s still meaningful value in the market.
Is the 2020 Acura RDX reliable?
Owners rate it 4.75/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
The owner feedback points to a vehicle that feels reliable, trouble-free, and easy to count on, especially when you factor in the strong satisfaction around its smooth driving character and overall value. The expert evaluation also reinforces that impression by describing the RDX as a well-rounded luxury SUV with strong performance and solid everyday usability.
The ownership picture is helped by the RDX’s broad feature set and its reputation for delivering a lot of content for the money. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about core durability and more about whether the technology and missing convenience features will bother you over time.
What should I look for when buying a used 2020 Acura RDX?
Accident-free inventory is solid at 77.6% — always verify the vehicle history report.
You should still run a history report on any candidate and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the listing price looks unusually attractive. Focus on overall condition, feature operation, and whether the tech interface and convenience equipment meet your expectations.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The base RDX comes well equipped with synthetic leather upholstery, heated front seats with 12-way power adjustability, a power moonroof, a 10.2-inch infotainment screen, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel. The Technology Package adds upgraded Milano leather seating, 19-inch wheels, additional driver-assistance features, rear-door keyless entry, and a GPS-linked climate control system. The A-Spec adds visual upgrades plus ventilated front seats, a panoramic moonroof, UltraSuede upholstery, and sport pedals. The Advance Package adds rain-sensing wipers, acoustic front glass, 16-way power front seats, heated rear seats, a heated steering wheel, ambient cabin lighting, and natural Olive Ash wood trim.
- Powertrain: Every version uses a turbocharged 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine with 272 horsepower and 280 pound-feet of torque, paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission and front-wheel drive or available SH-AWD. The setup delivers strong acceleration and solid highway passing power.
- Safety package: The RDX includes lane-departure warning, forward-collision warning, road-departure mitigation, lane-keep assist, automatic high beams, and adaptive cruise control with low-speed follow. The Technology Package adds front and rear parking sensors, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic monitoring, while the Advance Package adds a 10.5-inch head-up display, a 360-degree surround-view camera, and a washer nozzle for the rear-view camera.
- Infotainment: The standard setup uses a 10.2-inch screen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Bluetooth, two USB ports, a WiFi hot spot, a 9-speaker audio system, and satellite radio. The interface is controlled by a touchpad rather than a touchscreen, so you should test it carefully.
- Fuel efficiency: The SH-AWD A-Spec test model returned an EPA-estimated 22 mpg city, 27 highway, and 24 combined. The same test model observed 22.2 mpg in mixed driving.
Which 2020 Acura RDX trim should I buy?
The 2020 Acura RDX is offered in 4 trim levels: base RDX, Technology Package, A-Spec Package, and Advance Package.
Here's the short version:
- base RDX: This is the best-value choice because it already includes a strong list of standard equipment, including heated front seats, synthetic leather upholstery, a power moonroof, a 10.2-inch infotainment screen, and a full suite of driver-assistance features. If you want the most content for the money, this is the trim to start with.
- Technology Package: This is the smart upgrade if you want a more premium cabin and more convenience features without jumping all the way to the top. It adds Milano leather, 19-inch wheels, rear-door keyless entry, GPS-linked climate control, and extra driver-assistance features.
- A-Spec Package: This is the pick if you want the sportier look and richer cabin feel. It adds unique styling, ventilated front seats, a panoramic moonroof, UltraSuede upholstery, and the stronger ELS Studio 3D audio system.
- Advance Package: This is the most luxurious version, with features like heated rear seats, a heated steering wheel, ambient cabin lighting, acoustic front glass, and a surround-view camera. It makes sense if you want the most comfort and convenience features available.
The Technology Package adds front and rear parking sensors, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic monitoring, while the Advance Package adds a 360-degree surround-view camera.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2020 Acura RDX?
This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently but should move quickly on the right listing.
- Deal availability: 33.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 1,622 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 5.05% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 77.6% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $24,321, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2020 Acura RDX's resale value?
The current average of $24,866 sits slightly below last year's $26,188.
That price movement suggests the RDX has already absorbed some depreciation, which can help future sellers if the market stabilizes. If you buy at the current average or below, you may have a better chance of limiting your loss when it’s time to sell.
The year-round low of $24,321 also gives you a useful benchmark for judging whether a listing is especially strong. A well-kept RDX with desirable equipment should remain easier to move than a neglected example.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.75/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2020 Acura RDX safe?
The 2020 Acura RDX earns a Top Safety Pick+ rating from IIHS and a five-star overall rating from NHTSA.
It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.
Standard safety equipment includes front- and side-impact airbags, LATCH child-seat mounting systems, a tire pressure monitoring system, hill-start assist, and a rear-view camera. It also comes with lane-departure warning, forward-collision warning, road-departure mitigation, lane-keep assist, automatic high beams, and adaptive cruise control with low-speed follow.
The Technology Package adds front and rear parking sensors, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic monitoring. The Advance Package adds a 10.5-inch head-up display, a 360-degree surround-view camera, and a washer nozzle for the rear-view camera.
Should I buy a 2020 Acura RDX or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2020 if:
- 33.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Accident-free inventory is solid at 77.6% — always verify the vehicle history report.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 5.05% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.75/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
- It keeps the third-generation RDX formula with strong value, space, and safety tech.
Consider the 2019 if:
- At $22,842, the 2019 costs less than the current year's $24,866 average.
- It introduced the redesigned third-generation RDX.
Consider the 2021 if:
- At $27,718, the 2021 costs more than the current year's $24,866 average.
- It brings a more modern feel with a rethought infotainment system.
The bottom line: If you want the best balance of price, content, and safety, the 2020 is the sweet spot. If your priority is spending less, the 2019 is the value play; if you want a newer-feeling cabin and can pay more, the 2021 is the upgrade path.
