Used 2019 Toyota 4Runner for Sale nearCincinnati, OH

How much does the 2019 Toyota 4Runner cost?

Prices have softened 1.87% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,958 listings available, which suggests you have a solid amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2019 Toyota 4Runner a good car?

Yes — the 2019 Toyota 4Runner earns a 4.81/5 user rating and a 7.17/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Performance at 9/10.

Owners consistently praise its reliability, smooth ride, and spacious interior, and many also call out its off-road capability and comfort. The trade-offs are familiar for this model year: outdated technology and poor fuel economy. That makes it a strong fit if you want a rugged SUV with a proven, no-nonsense feel and enough space for everyday use, especially if you value durability and trail-ready capability over modern tech. Good and great deals account for 34.1% of listings, so there are still some attractive opportunities in the market.

Is the 2019 Toyota 4Runner reliable?

Owners rate it 4.81/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to reliability, and reviewers also describe it as dependable and comfortable enough for regular use. The expert evaluation reinforces that impression by emphasizing proven components and a drivetrain that works together to support towing and off-road use. The ownership picture is still shaped by age, so used buyers should pay close attention to maintenance history and overall wear before committing.

What should I look for when buying a used 2019 Toyota 4Runner?

At 63.6% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a thorough pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re considering a higher-mileage example or one that has seen off-road use. Focus on body condition, underbody wear, and signs of deferred maintenance, since this model year’s appeal depends heavily on how well it has been cared for. If you want the best ownership experience, compare equipment carefully so you know whether the listing matches the comfort and capability you expect.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base SR5 is fairly bare bones, while the SR5 Premium adds heated side mirrors with integrated turn signals, heated front seats, SofTex upholstery, a 4-way power front passenger seat, and an auto-dimming rear-view mirror. The TRD Off-Road trims lean into trail use, while the Limited shifts toward curb appeal with more chrome and comfort features. The TRD Pro adds the most aggressive hardware and appearance, so the base trim is the one most likely to feel stripped down if you want modern convenience.
• Powertrain: You get one engine: a 4.0-liter V6 with 270 horsepower and 278 pound-feet of torque, paired with a 5-speed automatic. It’s a proven setup with rear-wheel drive or available 4WD with low-range, and it supports towing up to 5,000 pounds.
• Safety package: The 4Runner comes with a full array of airbags, traction control, and a reversing camera, but advanced driver-assistance features are not standard. That means you should not expect the kind of active safety suite you’d find on newer SUVs.
• Infotainment: The 4Runner does not offer Apple CarPlay or Android Auto. The SR5 Premium adds Entune Premium Audio with Navigation, and the system is basic rather than cutting-edge.
• Fuel efficiency: 4WD versions return 17 mpg city, 20 highway, and 18 combined, while RWD versions do 17/21/18.

Which 2019 Toyota 4Runner trim should I buy?

The 2019 Toyota 4Runner is offered in 6 trim levels: SR5, SR5 Premium, TRD Off-Road, TRD Off-Road Premium, Limited, and TRD Pro.

Here's the short version:

• SR5: This is the entry point, and it gives you the core 4Runner formula with 17-inch alloy wheels, skid plates, the power up/down rear window, cloth upholstery, Bluetooth, and a rear cargo-area power outlet. It makes sense if you want the least expensive way into the model, but it feels sparse if you care about comfort or tech.
• SR5 Premium: This is the best-value choice for most shoppers because it adds heated side mirrors, heated front seats, SofTex upholstery, a power front passenger seat, an auto-dimming rear-view mirror, and Entune Premium Audio with Navigation. It gives you a much more livable cabin without moving too far up the price ladder.
• TRD Off-Road: This trim is for you if trail hardware matters more than comfort, since it adds a locking rear differential, Multi-Terrain Select, crawl control, TRD badging, and a TRD shift knob. It gives up some comfort content, so it’s best if off-road use is your priority.
• TRD Off-Road Premium: This is the sweet spot for buyers who want the off-road gear without giving up the nicer cabin features, because it brings back the Premium comfort equipment and adds a power moonroof. It’s the most balanced choice if you want capability and everyday usability together.
• Limited: Choose this if you want the 4Runner to feel more upscale, with 20-inch wheels, chrome-heavy styling, real leather upholstery, heated and cooled front seats, and dual-zone automatic climate control. It’s less rugged in presentation and more comfort-focused.
• TRD Pro: This is the most trail-focused and most expensive version, with a unique grille, roof rack, fog lights, matte black wheels, all-terrain tires, upgraded Fox Racing shocks, TRD-tuned front springs, and a thicker skid plate. It’s the one to buy if you want the most serious off-road hardware from the factory.

The safety content notes that the 4Runner comes with a full array of airbags, traction control, and a reversing camera, but advanced driver-assistance features are not standard.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2019 Toyota 4Runner?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 34.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,958 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 1.87% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 63.6% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $30,375, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2019 Toyota 4Runner's resale value?

The current average of $31,539 sits slightly below last year's $32,139.

That softer pricing suggests the market has eased a bit, which can help you buy more confidently now. For a future seller, the key takeaway is that the 4Runner’s value is holding in a relatively tight range rather than dropping sharply. That kind of stability can be helpful if you plan to own it for several years and want a vehicle with predictable demand.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.81/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2019 Toyota 4Runner safe?

The 2019 Toyota 4Runner earns four-star ratings overall from NHTSA, with three-star ratings in rollover testing.

It earns a 6/10 safety score from our experts.

The safety equipment is basic: a full array of airbags, traction control, and a reversing camera. The bigger issue is that advanced driver-assistance features are not standard, so you should not expect modern active-safety coverage here. That’s a meaningful gap if safety tech is high on your list, especially compared with newer SUVs.

Should I buy a 2019 Toyota 4Runner or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2019 if:

• 34.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 63.6% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 1.87% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.81/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It delivers standout off-road capability with a proven V6 and a rugged, old-school SUV character.

Consider the 2020 if:

• At $34,772, the 2020 costs more than the current year's $31,539 average.
• It adds standard advanced safety features.

The bottom line: If you want the lower purchase price and are comfortable with the 2019’s older tech and basic safety equipment, this year is the better value play. If you’re willing to spend more for standard advanced safety features, the 2020 is the cleaner choice for buyers who want a newer-feeling ownership experience.
