CarGurus Analysis: 2019 Mercedes-Benz GLE
Summary
With 186 currently listed for sale and an average price of $30,804, 29.0% of 2019 Mercedes-Benz GLE listings on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2019 Mercedes-Benz GLE 5 / 5 stars.
98.4% of 2019 Mercedes-Benz GLE listings on CarGurus are accident free.
Why it stands out
The 2019 Mercedes-Benz GLE stands out as a luxury SUV that blends a conservative, familiar character with a major step forward in technology and interior design. It is slightly larger than before, with a 3.1-inch longer wheelbase that adds rear legroom, and it can be had with optional third-row seats for seven-passenger capacity. The cabin is a particular highlight, with a sweeping dashboard design, huge display screens, and ambient lighting on some models that gives the interior a more dramatic feel than the exterior suggests.
Powertrain variety is another defining trait. Most models had some form of hybrid technology from the start, while the entry-level GLE 350 used a turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-four with rear-wheel drive in standard form. Above that, the GLE 450 4Matic produced 362 horsepower, the GLE 580 4Matic made 483 horsepower, and the Mercedes-AMG GLE 63 S 4Matic delivered 603 horsepower and 627 lb-ft of torque, with a 0-60 mph time of just 3.7 seconds. The range also included a plug-in hybrid GLE 450e 4Matic with 381 horsepower and a pure-electric range of 49 miles. Standard equipment is generous, and even early entry-level models came with a rear-view camera, a power tailgate, heated and electrically adjustable front seats, dual-zone climate control, a power sunroof, Apple CarPlay/Android Auto integration, and LED headlights.
For buyers, the appeal is straightforward: the 2019 GLE offers a premium look and feel, strong comfort, and a wide spread of versions to suit different needs. It is also described as generally dependable, which adds to its case as a used luxury SUV. The main drawbacks are that high-end versions are expensive and some models can be heavy on fuel, while the most powerful AMG version is clearly not the efficiency-focused choice.

How much does the 2019 Mercedes-Benz GLE cost?
| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| Current Average Price | $30,262 |
| Year-Round Low | $30,262 |
| Year-Round High | $33,109 |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $33,110 |
| Change vs. Last Year | −8.60% |
Prices have softened 8.60% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.
There are 1,565 listings available, which gives you a solid pool of used GLEs to compare.
Is the 2019 Mercedes-Benz GLE a good car?
Yes — 5/5 is a strong user rating for this model year, and the 2019 GLE backs that up with a luxury-focused mix of comfort, premium design, and broad versatility. The cabin is a standout, with a sweeping dashboard, large display screens, and available ambient lighting that gives it a more upscale feel. It also offers extra rear legroom from a longer wheelbase and optional third-row seating, so you can use it as a family SUV or a more refined daily driver.
The market also shows 33.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.
Is the 2019 Mercedes-Benz GLE reliable?
Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
The 2019 GLE is described as generally dependable, which supports its case as a used luxury SUV. Its appeal comes from a strong comfort focus, generous standard equipment, and a premium interior that should age well if it has been maintained properly. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that higher-end versions can be costly to keep up, so condition and service history matter.
What should I look for when buying a used 2019 Mercedes-Benz GLE?
At 73.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should start with a vehicle history report and confirm whether any prior damage was repaired properly. Put inspection priority on the body, suspension, electronics, and interior condition, since those areas can reveal how carefully the SUV was maintained. If possible, focus on examples with clean records and consistent service documentation.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2019 Mercedes-Benz GLE?
This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile options.
- Deal availability: 33.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 1,565 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 8.60% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 73.2% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $30,262, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2019 Mercedes-Benz GLE's resale value?
The current average of $30,262 sits slightly below last year's $33,110.
That softer pricing suggests the model has become more accessible for buyers, but it also means future sellers may need to price competitively to stand out. If you buy well and keep the SUV in strong condition, you can help protect your exit value later. A clean history and good maintenance records should matter more when it comes time to resell.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Should I buy a 2019 Mercedes-Benz GLE or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2019 if:
- 33.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 73.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 8.60% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
Consider the 2020 if:
- At $27,177, the 2020 costs less than the current year's $30,262 average.
- It brings a full redesign with a roomier cabin and newer technology.
The bottom line: If you want the stronger satisfaction signal and a broad used-market selection, the 2019 is the safer all-around pick. If your priority is spending less and getting the redesigned cabin and newer tech, the 2020 is the better value path.
