Used 2019 Mercedes-Benz A-Class for Sale near Washington

How much does the 2019 Mercedes-Benz A-Class cost?

Prices have softened 11.38% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 299 listings available, which gives you a modest amount of inventory to compare before you buy.

Is the 2019 Mercedes-Benz A-Class a good car?

Generally — with a 4.4/5 user rating and an 8.00/10 expert rating, this A-Class lands as a strong pick for shoppers who want entry-level luxury with a premium feel. The standout strength is Technology at 9/10.

Owners consistently praise the luxurious feel, strong build quality, and easy handling, and they also describe it as a compact car that still feels safe and solid. The overview points to stylish design, premium interior materials, and impressive technology as the main reasons it feels more upscale than its price suggests.

The trade-offs are clear: the advanced safety features are not standard, the ergonomic design is poor, and the transmission is irritating. That makes it a better fit if you value upscale cabin feel and tech over perfect everyday polish.

Only 35.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals, so the market has some value opportunities but still rewards careful shopping.

Is the 2019 Mercedes-Benz A-Class reliable?

Owners rate it 4.4/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction. The user feedback also points to a dependable-feeling car with a strong build quality and a compact size that still feels safe and solid.

The expert evaluation reinforces that impression by describing it as a well-built, well-designed sedan when you keep the price in the reasonable range. The cost-effectiveness discussion also suggests you can get a lot of car for the money without stretching too far up the options ladder.

That said, used buyers should still watch for long-term ownership risk tied to reported reliability concerns, especially if the car has been driven hard or poorly maintained.

What should I look for when buying a used 2019 Mercedes-Benz A-Class?

At 67.6% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the car has been in a collision or has a long option list. Focus on condition, electronics, and how the transmission behaves in normal driving, since the model’s appeal depends heavily on its tech and overall refinement.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The A-Class comes in only sedan form, and the Premium Package is a major upgrade because it expands the screen setup and adds blind-spot monitoring, keyless entry and ignition, and power-folding mirrors. The base setup leaves you with less of the tech-rich experience that defines this car.
• Powertrain: There’s only one engine available, a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder with 188 hp and 221 pound-feet of torque. It delivers power in a largely linear way, but the 7-speed dual-clutch transmission can be slow to shift and stumble at low speeds.
• Safety package: The available Driver Assistance package adds a full suite of semi-autonomous safety features that allow part-time, hands-free driving. The Parking Assistance Package is separate and adds a 360-degree camera and active parking assist.
• Infotainment: The dual 10.75-inch screens and MBUX interface are the headline tech features, and the system includes wireless voice control, augmented video, and customizable displays. The Premium Package is the key step up from the smaller 7-inch touchscreen.
• Fuel efficiency: It is rated at 25 mpg city, 33 highway, and 28 combined.

Which 2019 Mercedes-Benz A-Class trim should I buy?

The 2019 Mercedes-Benz A-Class is offered in 1 trim level: A 220.

Here's the short version:

The A 220 is the trim to buy because it is the only one, and it already gives you the core appeal of this car: upscale design, strong tech, and a premium-feeling cabin. If you want the best version of this model, focus on examples with the Premium Package, since it meaningfully improves the screen setup and adds useful convenience and safety features.

The safety package is optional, so if advanced driver assistance matters to you, make sure the listing specifically includes the Driver Assistance package rather than assuming it is standard.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2019 Mercedes-Benz A-Class?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, with enough inventory to shop carefully and enough price softness to create opportunities.

• Deal availability: 35.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 299 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.38% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 67.6% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $17,312, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2019 Mercedes-Benz A-Class's resale value?

The current average of $17,312 sits slightly below last year's $19,535.

That price movement suggests the model has already absorbed some depreciation, which can help future resale stability if you buy at the right number. For a future seller, the key advantage is that you may be entering ownership after the steepest part of the drop has already happened.

The strongest resale prospects will likely come from well-kept examples with desirable equipment and clean history reports. If you buy a car with strong condition and the right options, you should have a better chance of attracting shoppers later.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.4/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2019 Mercedes-Benz A-Class safe?

The 2019 Mercedes-Benz A-Class has about the best autonomous experience you can buy these days with the available Driver Assistance package, though testing info is not currently available from either NHTSA or IIHS.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

The available Driver Assistance package adds a full suite of semi-autonomous safety features that allow part-time, hands-free driving, and it is especially useful in stop-and-go traffic. The package is not standard, so you need to verify that a used example actually has it.

There are also caveats to keep in mind: the system can get confused when crossing traffic in the city, and the augmented video display can be distracting because it pulls your eyes away from the road. That means the car’s safety story depends heavily on how it is equipped and how you use its tech.

Should I buy a 2019 Mercedes-Benz A-Class or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2019 if:

• 35.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 67.6% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.38% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.4/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• The 2019 A-Class stands out as Mercedes’ new entry-level model in North America, with premium materials and impressive technology helping it feel more upscale than its price suggests.

The bottom line: If you want the strongest mix of value, tech, and upscale feel, the 2019 is the one to target. If you are especially price-sensitive, shop carefully for a clean, well-equipped example and prioritize the right packages over chasing the lowest sticker alone.
