At 57% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

That softer pricing can help you buy at a more favorable entry point, but it also means future resale gains may be more limited if the market stays steady. If you plan to sell later, condition and mileage will matter a lot in protecting value.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2019 Mazda MAZDA6 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2019 if:

• 32.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 57% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.11% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2018 if:

• At $16,212, the 2018 costs less than the current year's $17,702 average.
• The 2018 aims for a more upscale feel with a redesigned interior and a turbocharged engine.

The bottom line: If you want the stronger current-market balance of price, deal availability, and owner satisfaction, the 2019 is the better starting point. If your priority is spending less upfront, the 2018 is the more budget-friendly alternative and still brings a premium-leaning character.
