Used 2019 Mazda CX-9 for Sale nearNashville, TN

How much does the 2019 Mazda CX-9 cost?

Prices have softened 6.54% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 542 listings available, which suggests you have a reasonable amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2019 Mazda CX-9 a good car?

Yes — the 2019 Mazda CX-9 earns a 4.62/5 user rating and a 7/10 expert rating. The model scores 8/10 across Look and feel, Performance, and Safety.

Owners consistently praise its performance, handling, and luxurious-feeling features, along with the spacious interior and family-friendly safety equipment. The main trade-offs are outdated technology in lower trims and a cabin that some shoppers may find less accommodating than rivals in terms of ergonomics and cargo utility.

For you, that means the CX-9 makes the most sense if you want a three-row SUV that feels more polished and engaging than purely practical family haulers. 35.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals, so there are still some attractive opportunities in the market.

Is the 2019 Mazda CX-9 reliable?

Owners rate it 4.62/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a vehicle that feels dependable, trouble-free, and easy to count on for family use, especially when you value its mix of comfort, safety, and everyday usability. The expert evaluation also reinforces that it is a roomy and safe family-sized crossover with a strong reputation for practical ownership.

Mazda’s performance notes suggest the drivetrain is robust and the transmission shifts cleanly, which supports confidence in day-to-day use. If you’re shopping used, the main long-term ownership risk is less about outright durability and more about whether the vehicle’s age, equipment level, and condition still match your expectations.

What should I look for when buying a used 2019 Mazda CX-9?

At 60.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a careful inspection of bodywork, alignment, and interior wear so you can separate a clean example from one that has been repaired after damage. Because the CX-9’s appeal depends heavily on how well it has been maintained, condition matters a lot more than mileage alone.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Sport trim is the most basic version, and the content makes clear that it can feel stripped compared with the higher trims. The Signature trim adds creamy Nappa leather upholstery, real wood trim, and other upscale details that give the cabin a much more premium look and feel.
• Powertrain: The CX-9 uses a turbocharged 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine. It makes 227 hp on regular unleaded and 250 hp on premium fuel, with 310 lb.-ft. of torque at 2,000 rpm regardless of fuel choice.
• Safety package: Mazda’s driver-assistance features include low-speed automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go capability, pedestrian detection, full-speed-range automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning with lane-keeping assist, automatic high-beam headlights, rain-sensing wipers, and more. The Sport trim gets only the first set as standard, while the rest are standard on other versions.
• Infotainment: Mazda Connect includes a touchscreen that works only when the vehicle is stationary, plus control through the center console, steering wheel, and voice recognition. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are included, and the system also offers E911 service.
• Fuel efficiency: The expert notes that the CX-9 Signature should have returned 23 mpg in combined driving, but the test vehicle averaged 19.9 mpg over nearly 700 miles.

Which 2019 Mazda CX-9 trim should I buy?

The 2019 Mazda CX-9 is offered in 4 trim levels: Sport, Touring, Grand Touring, and Signature.

Here's the short version:

• Sport: This is the entry point, but the content shows that it leaves you with the most basic cabin experience. It makes sense only if you want the lowest starting price and are comfortable adding safety equipment through the available package.
• Touring: This is the trim that most shoppers should focus on first because it moves you beyond the bare-bones feel of the Sport while staying below the top-end pricing of the Grand Touring and Signature. It is the best-value choice if you want a more complete CX-9 without paying for luxury extras.
• Grand Touring: Choose this if you want a more upscale equipment mix and are willing to pay more for it. It sits above Touring and below Signature, so it is the step-up option for buyers who want more comfort and convenience without going all the way to the top trim.
• Signature: This is the luxury-leaning version, with Nappa leather, real wood trim, and other premium details that make the cabin feel much more upscale. Buy this only if the premium interior presentation matters enough to justify the higher price.

Safety equipment is strongest on the higher trims, while the Sport needs the available package to match much of what comes standard elsewhere.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2019 Mazda CX-9?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, with enough inventory and deal activity to make comparison shopping worthwhile.

• Deal availability: 35.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 542 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.54% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 60.9% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $18,123, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2019 Mazda CX-9's resale value?

The current average of $18,133 sits slightly below last year's $19,402.

That decline suggests the CX-9 has become more affordable for used buyers, but it also means a future seller may face a softer pricing environment than owners saw a year ago. If you buy well and keep the vehicle in strong condition, you can help protect value, but the market is still rewarding shoppers more than sellers right now.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.62/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2019 Mazda CX-9 safe?

The 2019 Mazda CX-9 earns a Top Safety Pick rating from the IIHS and five-star overall crash-test ratings from the federal government, though it also earns four-star ratings for frontal-impact protection for the driver and front passenger.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Mazda’s safety suite includes low-speed automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go capability, pedestrian detection, full-speed-range automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning with lane-keeping assist, automatic high-beam headlights, and rain-sensing wipers. The Sport trim gets only the first group as standard, while the rest are standard on the other versions.

That means the CX-9 is a strong safety choice overall, but you should still pay attention to trim level and the frontal crash-test caveat when comparing used examples.

Should I buy a 2019 Mazda CX-9 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2019 if:

• 35.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 60.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.54% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.62/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: If you want a used three-row SUV with a more premium feel, the 2019 CX-9 is a compelling choice because it blends style, handling, and safety in a way many rivals don’t. If you’re especially price-sensitive, you may want to compare it carefully against nearby model years and focus on the cleanest, best-maintained example you can find.
