How much does the 2019 Kia Sorento cost?

Prices have softened 8.44% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,674 listings available, which suggests you should have a reasonable amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2019 Kia Sorento a good car?

Yes — the 2019 Kia Sorento earns a 4.62/5 user rating and an 8.5/10 expert rating. The model scores 10/10 across Technology and Safety.

You get a strong mix of a comfortable ride, spacious interior, and great value, and owners also like the third-row seating and smooth road manners. That lines up with the overview’s focus on family-friendly space, a stylish feel, and confidence-boosting crash protection. With 31.3% of listings marked as good or great deals, the market also gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2019 Kia Sorento reliable?

Owners rate it 4.62/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

Drivers consistently describe the Sorento as comfortable, spacious, and great value, and the review summary also points to a smooth, dependable feel on the road. The expert evaluation reinforces that impression with a quiet highway ride and a robust-feeling structure, which supports the case for long-term confidence. Kia’s 10-year/100,000-mile powertrain warranty, 5-year/50,000-mile bumper-to-bumper warranty, and 5-year/50,000-mile roadside assistance coverage also help reduce ownership risk for used buyers.

What should I look for when buying a used 2019 Kia Sorento?

At 61.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a careful pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re considering a higher-mileage example or one with multiple owners. Focus on body condition, signs of prior repair, and whether the equipment you want is actually present on the trim you’re shopping. Because some owners mention concerns with certain engine options and missing amenities in some models, it’s worth confirming that the specific vehicle matches your expectations.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The L starts the lineup, while LX, EX, SX, and SX Limited add progressively more equipment. The EX is the most popular version and brings a V6, nicer wheels, leather seats, and most of the safety technologies, while the SX Limited adds premium leather and more upscale interior touches.
• Powertrain: The lineup includes a standard 185-horsepower 2.4-liter four-cylinder on L and LX trims and an available 290-horsepower 3.3-liter V6 that is optional on LX and standard on EX, SX, and SX Limited. The V6 is the stronger choice if you want smoother, quicker acceleration.
• Safety package: Blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are included on all versions except the base L. The EX adds adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, and UVO eServices safety features. Lane-keeping assist and driver-attention monitoring are standard on EX, SX, and SX Limited, so the base trim misses several key aids.
• Infotainment: The L and LX use UVO play with a 7-inch touchscreen, reversing camera, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto. EX upgrades to UVO eServices, and the top system adds an 8-inch touchscreen, SiriusXM traffic data, HD Radio, and a 10-speaker Harman Kardon audio system; wireless charging is included on SX and SX Limited.
• Fuel efficiency: The V6 test vehicle returned 20.7 mpg, and the official combined rating is 21 mpg.

Which 2019 Kia Sorento trim should I buy?

The 2019 Kia Sorento is offered in 5 trim levels: L, LX, EX, SX, SX Limited.

Here's the short version:

• L: This is the entry point, but it’s the most stripped-down version and misses several useful safety features that appear higher up the range. It makes sense only if you’re chasing the lowest price and can live without the extra driver aids.
• LX: This is the better starting point if you want a more usable Sorento without jumping too far in price. It can be paired with the V6, and it gives you a more flexible foundation for shoppers who want value and everyday comfort.
• EX: This is the best-value trim for most buyers because it adds the V6, leather seats, and most of the safety technologies. It also unlocks UVO eServices, making it the sweet spot for shoppers who want the Sorento’s core strengths without paying top-trim money.
• SX: This trim adds more upscale equipment and can be paired with the 360-degree surround-view camera system as an option. It suits you if you want a more premium feel and extra convenience features.
• SX Limited: This is the most luxurious version, with premium Nappa leather, more upscale interior materials, and the 360-degree surround-view camera system standard. It’s the right pick if you want the most fully equipped Sorento and are willing to pay for it.

The EX is the trim most buyers should target, while the SX Limited makes sense if you want the richest feature set and the most upscale cabin.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2019 Kia Sorento?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile options.

• Deal availability: 31.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,674 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.44% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 61.4% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $13,724, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2019 Kia Sorento's resale value?

The current average of $13,797 sits slightly below last year's $15,069.

That decline suggests the Sorento has become more affordable for used buyers, but it also means future sellers may need to price competitively to stand out. If you buy well now, you’re starting from a lower entry point, which can help cushion depreciation later. Strong equipment, family-friendly appeal, and broad market interest should still support demand when it’s time to sell.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.62/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2019 Kia Sorento safe?

The 2019 Kia Sorento gets top marks from both the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS).

It earns a 10/10 safety score from our experts.

All versions except the base L include blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert. The EX adds adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go capability, forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, and UVO eServices safety features. Lane-keeping assist and driver-attention monitoring are standard on EX, SX, and SX Limited, so the base trim misses some of the most useful driver aids.

Should I buy a 2019 Kia Sorento or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2019 if:

• 31.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 61.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.44% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.62/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2019 model stands out for its updated styling, strong family appeal, and top crash-test ratings.

The bottom line: The 2019 Sorento is the right pick if you want a well-rounded used midsize SUV with strong safety, good value, and a broad feature spread. If you’re especially price-sensitive, you can also compare nearby model years, but the 2019’s combination of updated equipment and softened pricing makes it the primary year to target.
