Why it stands out
The 2019 Hyundai Tucson stands out as a compact SUV that blends value, practicality, and a more polished design than earlier versions. For this model year, it received a minor styling refresh that updated the front end to Hyundai’s cascading grille with a curving lower section, while the infotainment touchscreen was moved from within the dash to its own enclosure. It also came standard with frontal collision mitigation, lane-keep assist, and a driver attention monitor, giving it a stronger safety story than many shoppers might expect in this class.
It is also appealing because it offers a broad mix of equipment without feeling stripped down. The lineup included features such as Apple CarPlay and Android Auto on the top Limited trim, along with available upgrades like a 7-inch touchscreen on the SEL and a larger 181-hp 2.4-liter engine on the Sport trim. At the same time, the 2019 Tucson was not without compromises: the turbocharged engine was discontinued this year, and the model’s value-oriented positioning means some buyers may still find the standard setup less exciting than the rest of the package.

How much does the 2019 Hyundai Tucson cost?
| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| Current Average Price | $14,202 |
| Year-Round Low | $14,192 |
| Year-Round High | $15,152 |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $15,158 |
| Change vs. Last Year | −6.31% |
Prices have softened 6.31% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.
There are 2,244 listings available, which gives you a solid pool of options to compare on price and condition.
Is the 2019 Hyundai Tucson a good car?
Yes — the 2019 Hyundai Tucson earns a 4.67/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction. Drivers consistently praise its spacious interior, great handling, and good value for money, and many also like the updated features and luxury amenities it offers. That makes it a sensible fit if you want a compact SUV that emphasizes practicality and everyday usefulness over flash. With 34.2% of listings marked as good or great deals, you still have room to shop selectively.
Is the 2019 Hyundai Tucson reliable?
Owners rate it 4.67/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
The user feedback also points to a dependable ownership experience, with drivers highlighting the Tucson’s good value and the kind of everyday usability that tends to matter over the long haul. The main caution from owners is that the standard engine can feel underpowered, but that is more of a drivability tradeoff than a durability red flag. For used buyers, the bigger long-term risk is choosing a poorly maintained example, so condition and service history matter more than chasing the lowest sticker price.
What should I look for when buying a used 2019 Hyundai Tucson?
At 64.3% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should start with a vehicle history report so you can separate clean examples from ones with prior damage or repeated claims. After that, prioritize a thorough pre-purchase inspection, especially if the listing price looks unusually attractive. Focus on overall condition, signs of repair quality, and whether the vehicle feels consistent with its mileage and asking price.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2019 Hyundai Tucson?
This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently and still find worthwhile options.
- Deal availability: 34.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 2,244 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 6.31% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 64.3% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $14,192, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2019 Hyundai Tucson's resale value?
The current average of $14,202 sits slightly below last year's $15,158.
That softer pricing suggests the Tucson is currently more buyer-friendly than seller-friendly, which can make it easier for you to get into one now but may limit upside if you plan to resell soon. The good news is that the model’s broad appeal, practical layout, and strong owner satisfaction help support steady demand. If you buy well and keep the vehicle in good condition, you should be in a better position when it comes time to sell.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.67/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Should I buy a 2019 Hyundai Tucson or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2019 if:
- 34.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 64.3% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 6.31% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.67/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
The bottom line: The 2019 Tucson makes the most sense if you want a well-liked compact SUV with strong value and you’re willing to shop carefully for condition and history. If your priority is stretching your budget as far as possible, a nearby year may still be worth comparing, but the 2019 is a solid primary target when you find a clean, fairly priced example.
