This is my second Genesis. I have searched for a year and a half for this one. I have driven Lexus, BMW, Cadillac etc. there are none that compare to the Genesis. Luxury at its finest. Smooth, quiet ride and is absolutely gorgeous!

Excellent mid size family car. All of the tech I wanted plus some. Lots of pep from 3.3 turbo on the Sport model. Highly recommend.

The model of Genesis I purchased was the 3.8L with the sport and ultimate package. The car had every option I wanted except the heads up display. I got a great deal on the car. I think I got a great value. This 3.8L at 311HP is a bit sluggish and there are very few performance upgrades available. I would compare the Genesis G80 to the Mercedes E350, Lexus 350, Audi A6, and the BMW 5 Series.

In 2017, Hyundai spun all of its luxury models into the exclusive Genesis brand, including the G80. The 2019 G80 provides a midsize premium sedan experience at a steep discount compared to the Audi A6, BMW 5 Series, Jaguar XF, and Mercedes-Benz E-Class. For 2019, it gets some mild tweaks.

The G80’s exterior is handsome with thoughtful touches of chrome. It offers three powertrain choices. The lineup starts with a 3.8-liter V6 that makes 311 horsepower and 293 pound-feet of torque. The mid-grade option is a spicier 3.3-liter twin-turbocharged V6 with 365 hp and 376 lb-ft. A 5.0-liter V8, cranking out 420 hp and 383 lb-ft, tops out the range. An 8-speed automatic is the only transmission on offer, routing power to the rear wheels. Genesis now offers all-wheel drive (AWD) across the range. A drive-mode selector and well-tuned suspension come standard. With RWD, the 3.8-liter V6 returns 18 mpg, 26, and 21 combined. With AWD, highway and combined mileage drop by 1 mpg. With the 3.3-liter, expect to see 17, 25, 20 with RWD and 17, 24, 20 with AWD. The V8 will return mileage of 16, 24, 19 with RWD and 15, 23, 18 with AWD. The 3.3-liter and 5.0-liter run on premium fuel.

The G80’s lineup is simple, with standard features like 18-inch alloy wheels, bi-xenon HID headlights, LED taillights, power-folding heated side mirrors with approach lights, a hands-free trunk, keyless access, 12-way power front seats with heat, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, memory settings, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, an electronic parking brake, a 7-speaker audio system, and dual front USB ports. The standard 8-inch infotainment system and navigation is new for 2019, and now includes Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

The Sport Package, newly available for the base 3.8-liter engine, bundles copper exterior accents, a dark chrome grille, front and rear sport bumpers, sport side skirts, dual-exhaust tips, and unique 19-inch wheels. Inside, you get a three-spoke sport steering wheel and sport pedals.

The Ultimate Package supplements the 5.0-liter engine with a microfiber suede headliner, ventilated front disc brakes, full LED headlights, LED fog lights, richer Nappa leather upholstery, a power driver-seat cushion, cooled front seats, and a head-up display (HUD).

The G80’s standard safety equipment includes a reversing camera, forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic detection, lane-change assist, and adaptive cruise control with traffic crawl. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) awarded the G80 a Top Safety Pick + award in 2018. The National Highway and Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) awarded the 2019 G80 a 5-star overall rating.

With a long list of standard features and plenty of performance on tap, the G80 is worth considering as a luxury sedan.
