Is the 2019 Genesis G70 reliable?

Owner feedback points to a car that feels dependable, with praise centered on its strong value, luxurious feel, sporty performance, and the kind of ownership experience people are happy to recommend. The expert evaluation also emphasizes that the G70 feels well sorted and confident on the road, which supports the impression of a car you can count on.

Genesis also backs the car with a 5-year/60,000-mile warranty and 3 years or 36,000 miles of scheduled maintenance, which helps reduce early ownership worry. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is making sure prior maintenance and wear items were handled properly before you take over.

What should I look for when buying a used 2019 Genesis G70?

At 64.3% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you are considering a higher-mileage or lower-priced example. Focus on body condition, signs of prior repair, and whether the car’s luxury features and driving hardware still feel tight and well maintained. Because this model is praised for its performance and standard equipment, you want to make sure the example you choose still delivers the same polished experience.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The cabin emphasizes padded materials, aluminum trim, tight panel gaps, and contrast stitching, while the base setup also carries some infotainment and instrument-panel hardware borrowed from lower-priced Hyundai and Kia models.
• Powertrain: The turbo 2.0-liter four-cylinder makes 252 hp and 260 lb-ft, while the 3.3-liter twin-turbo V6 makes 365 horsepower and 376 pound-feet of torque; the V6 is the stronger choice for effortless thrust.
• Safety package: Forward emergency braking, pedestrian detection, blind-spot monitoring, lane-keep assist, a driver-attention monitor, adaptive cruise control, a driver’s knee airbag, and auto high beams come standard on all models.
• Infotainment: Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard, along with a wireless charging pad, Genesis Connected services for three years, and a 360-degree camera system.
• Fuel efficiency: The G70 is EPA-estimated at 18 to 22 mpg city, 25 to 30 highway, and 20 to 25 combined.

Which 2019 Genesis G70 trim should I buy?

The 2019 Genesis G70 is offered in 3 trim levels: 2.0T, 3.3T, and 3.3T Sport.

Here's the short version:

• 2.0T: This is the entry point, and it gives you the G70’s core luxury-sport character with the turbo 2.0-liter four-cylinder. It is the trim to consider if you want the lowest starting price and can live with the less urgent low-end response noted by owners.
• 3.3T: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it brings the twin-turbo V6’s much stronger performance without needing to jump all the way to the sport-focused version. If you want the G70’s character at its most balanced, start here.
• 3.3T Sport: Choose this if you want the most aggressive setup, including the performance-oriented hardware mentioned in the test drive notes. It is the right pick if you care most about the sharpest driving experience.

All models include standard safety equipment such as forward emergency braking, pedestrian detection, blind-spot monitoring, lane-keep assist, a driver-attention monitor, adaptive cruise control, a driver’s knee airbag, and auto high beams.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2019 Genesis G70?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage but still need to move quickly on the right car.

• Deal availability: 32.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 224 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.87% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 64.3% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $19,619, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2019 Genesis G70's resale value?

The current average of $19,651 sits slightly below last year's $21,565.

That decline suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you as a buyer but may limit upside if you plan to resell soon. If you buy well and keep the car in strong condition, you may be able to soften the impact of that broader price drop. The G70’s strong owner satisfaction and premium appeal should help support demand better than a weaker-rated sedan.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2019 Genesis G70 safe?

The 2019 G70 has not yet been rated by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), but it earns a Top Safety Pick+ from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Forward emergency braking, pedestrian detection, blind-spot monitoring, lane-keep assist, a driver-attention monitor, adaptive cruise control, a driver’s knee airbag, and auto high beams come standard on all models. That standard safety list is a major strength, especially because it gives you a lot of driver-assistance coverage without needing to climb the trim ladder.

Should I buy a 2019 Genesis G70 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2019 if:

• 32.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 64.3% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.87% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It is the first all-new, ground-up Genesis G70, and it arrives with standout style, strong performance, and a premium feel.

Consider the 2020 if:

• At $20,059, the 2020 costs more than the current year's $19,651 average.
• It adds a more distinctive, attention-getting presence and a stronger sense of specialness.

The bottom line: If you want the better bargain, the 2019 is the smarter starting point because prices have eased and owner satisfaction is excellent. If you are willing to spend a bit more for a newer example with a slightly more distinctive appeal, the 2020 is worth a look; otherwise, the 2019 gives you the stronger value play.
