Is the 2019 GMC Sierra 2500HD a good car?

Yes — the 5/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction. The 2019 GMC Sierra 2500HD stands out as a heavy-duty pickup that blends work-truck capability with a more upscale feel than many rivals, and it offers a broad mix of cab, bed, and trim choices so you can tailor it for jobsite duty or everyday use. It also brings a more premium cabin and a wider feature set than many competitors in the segment. With 31.4% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2019 GMC Sierra 2500HD reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2019 GMC Sierra 2500HD is described as having electrical problems from wiring and sensor flaws, hard-shifting automatic transmissions, and glitchy infotainment software and interfaces. It also shows signs of poor build quality, including inconsistent panel gaps, peeling paint, and premature rusting. For used buyers, that means long-term ownership risk is worth taking seriously, especially if the truck has not been carefully inspected and documented.

What should I look for when buying a used 2019 GMC Sierra 2500HD?

At 71.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a full vehicle history report and confirm whether any prior damage was repaired properly. Put extra inspection priority on electrical systems, transmission behavior, infotainment operation, paint condition, panel alignment, and rust-prone areas. If possible, test every major feature and focus on overall condition rather than just mileage.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2019 GMC Sierra 2500HD?

This is a moderate market, so you can shop selectively without expecting a deep bargain on every listing.

• Deal availability: 31.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 959 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.89% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 71.2% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $38,897, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2019 GMC Sierra 2500HD's resale value?

The current average of $39,323 sits slightly below last year's $42,691.

That price movement suggests the market has cooled, which can help you buy more confidently now but may also limit short-term upside if you plan to resell soon. For a future seller, the softer pricing means condition, equipment, and documentation matter even more because buyers have more choices. Trucks that present well and have clean histories should hold attention better than rough examples.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2019 GMC Sierra 2500HD or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2019 if:

• 31.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 71.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.89% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2020 if:

• At $48,715, the 2020 costs more than the current year's $39,323 average.
• It adds a more upscale Denali identity with strong capability and plenty of cargo space.

The bottom line: If you want the better value, the 2019 is the stronger starting point because it combines a lower average price with solid deal availability. If you care more about the newer-year premium feel and are willing to pay more, the 2020 is the secondary path to consider.
