Is the 2019 GMC Sierra 2500HD a good car?

Yes — the 5/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction, and the 2019 Sierra 2500HD’s appeal comes from its heavy-duty capability paired with a more upscale feel than many rivals. It also offers a broad mix of cab, bed, trim, and drivetrain choices, so you can tailor it to jobsite duty or everyday use. The Denali trim adds a more polished take on the heavy-duty truck formula, which helps this model stand out if you want capability without giving up refinement. There are 32.6% good or great deals in the market, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2019 GMC Sierra 2500HD reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2019 Sierra 2500HD is described as having electrical problems tied to wiring and sensor flaws, hard-shifting automatic transmissions, and glitchy infotainment software and interfaces. It also shows signs of inconsistent panel gaps, peeling paint, and premature rusting. For used buyers, that means long-term ownership risk is more about condition and maintenance history than the badge alone.

What should I look for when buying a used 2019 GMC Sierra 2500HD?

At 69.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report to confirm accident records, title status, and service history. Then prioritize a thorough pre-purchase inspection, with extra attention to electrical operation, transmission behavior, infotainment function, paint condition, and signs of rust or uneven bodywork. If possible, focus on trucks with clean maintenance records and consistent panel fit and finish.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2019 GMC Sierra 2500HD?

This is a moderate market, so you can shop selectively without expecting a deep buyer’s-market discount.

• Deal availability: 32.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 954 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.78% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $38,889, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2019 GMC Sierra 2500HD's resale value?

The current average of $40,267 sits slightly below last year's $42,737.

That softer pricing can help you buy more carefully now, but it also suggests future resale gains may be limited unless the truck is especially clean and well maintained. If you plan to sell later, condition, service history, and accident-free status will matter a lot in protecting value. Trucks that present well and avoid major repair history are more likely to hold buyer interest when it’s time to move on.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2019 GMC Sierra 2500HD or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2019 if:

• 32.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 69.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.78% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2020 if:

• At $48,196, the 2020 costs more than the current year's $40,267 average.
• It adds a more upscale Denali-focused identity with stronger premium appeal.

The bottom line: You should lean toward the 2019 if you want a lower average price and a broader pool of listings to compare. If you’re willing to spend more for a newer model with stronger upscale positioning, the 2020 is the better secondary path.
