CarGurus Analysis: 2019 GMC Acadia
overall

Summary
With 2,447 currently listed for sale and an average price of $17,344, 31.1% of 2019 GMC Acadia models for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2019 GMC Acadia 4.43 / 5 stars and CarGurus experts gave it an 8 / 10.
64.6% of 2019 Acadia models on CarGurus are accident free.
Why it stands out
The 2019 GMC Acadia stands out in the three-row midsize SUV class by feeling more upscale than many of its rivals. CarGurus describes it as not as large or spacious as some competitors, but notes that it counters that with an upscale interior and solid driving dynamics. It also rides on the same platform as the Chevrolet Traverse, yet is presented as a different kind of vehicle thanks to its shorter wheelbase and more upscale cabin, which give it a more distinctive, less purely utilitarian character.
That balance makes the 2019 Acadia appealing to buyers who want family-friendly versatility without giving up a more refined feel. It is aimed at shoppers who need three-row seating but do not necessarily want something as large as a full-size SUV. At the same time, its smaller footprint and less spacious packaging mean it may not be the best fit for buyers who prioritize maximum room above all else. Owners also tend to praise its smooth ride and stylish design, while some note that the third row can feel cramped.

So far nothing but love for this car. It works well with my growing children. 3rd row seat very accessible. Features are top notch. Highly recommend.

The GMC Acadia is a stylish, good looking SUV. I purchased the SLE-1 model which is kinda basic (no remote start, no heated seats) but good for what i need. BEFORE YOU PURCHASE ONE, be aware that the 2017-2019 (maybe more??) years have “Shift to Park” issues. You have the shifter in Park, but the car does not think its in Park. So the car will not shut off and you can spend 5-60 minutes playing with the shifter or pushing the shifter button until it thinks its in Park. Its a known issue for several GM models and there are no recall’s and no real definite fix. A lot of theories of what can fix it, but no for-sure thing. Just google “Acadia shift to park” and read up on it yourself. I’ve dealt with this on my 2018 Malibu and now after two days after buying a 2019 Acadia, i find out i have the same issue with this. Its still under warranty so i took it back and the dealer replaced the shifter. We’ll see if that is a permanent fix?? Frustrated to say the least.

This new 2019 is a very good looking vehicle, with a lot of options included. I think the value or price of this vehicle is a little high with the new 2021 vehicles coming out in a few months. This vehicle has everything that we are looking for. I think it is comparable with the Chevy Traverse, Dodge Durango, and Ford Explorer.

What should I look for when buying a used 2019 GMC Acadia?
At 65.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should start with a vehicle-history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re considering a higher-mileage example or one with multiple owners. Focus on body condition, signs of prior repair, and whether the cabin and electronics all work as expected. It’s also worth checking that any known issues have been resolved before you move forward.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The base SL comes with 17-inch painted aluminum wheels, 7-passenger seating, remote keyless entry, 3-zone climate control, and heated power side mirrors. The SLE-1 adds signature LED headlights and Sirius XM satellite radio, while the SLE-2 adds a power liftgate, fog lights, heated front seats, and remote engine start. The SLT trims add more standard convenience and driver-assistance content, and the Denali brings the most luxury-focused equipment.
- Powertrain: You can choose between a 193-horsepower inline 4-cylinder and a 310-hp 3.6-liter V6. The V6 is the stronger choice, with quicker acceleration, available AWD, and up to 4,000 pounds of towing when properly equipped.
- Safety package: Driver Alert Package 1 adds blind-spot warning, lane-change alert, and rear park assist. Driver Alert Package 2 adds low-speed forward automatic braking, lane-departure warning, pedestrian detection, forward-collision alert, adaptive headlights and high beams, rear cross-traffic alert, and front and rear parking sensors.
- Infotainment: The base setup uses a 7-inch touchscreen with IntelliLink, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth, five USB ports, and a WiFi hotspot that requires a subscription. SLT-1 upgrades to an 8-inch screen, and Denali adds navigation.
- Fuel efficiency: The base 4-cylinder FWD setup returns 21 mpg city, 26 highway, and 23 combined. The SLT-1 AWD with the V6 should return 17/25/20, and the expert drive observed 19.8 mpg in mixed driving.
Which 2019 GMC Acadia trim should I buy?
The 2019 GMC Acadia is offered in 6 trim levels: SL, SLE-1, SLE-2, SLT-1, SLT-2, and Denali.
Here's the short version:
- SL: This is the entry point, and it covers the basics with 7-passenger seating, 3-zone climate control, and standard smartphone integration. It makes sense if you want the lowest starting price and can live without the richer convenience and safety content found higher up.
- SLE-1: This trim adds signature LED headlights and satellite radio, but its appeal is tied heavily to option-package availability. It works best if you want a modest step up from the base model and plan to tailor equipment carefully.
- SLE-2: This trim adds a power liftgate, fog lights, heated front seats, and remote start, making it a more comfortable daily driver. It’s a stronger value than the SLE-1 if you want more convenience without jumping to the pricier SLT models.
- SLT-1: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds the 8-inch touchscreen, a premium Bose audio system, more driver-assistance features, and more upscale cabin touches. It’s the sweet spot if you want the Acadia’s more refined personality without going all the way to Denali.
- SLT-2: This trim builds on the SLT-1 with more driver-assistance features, heated rear seats, and front-seat memory settings. Choose it if you want a more fully equipped family SUV and are willing to pay for the extra comfort and safety content.
- Denali: This is the luxury-focused choice, with unique styling, navigation, a larger driver display, a hands-free power tailgate, and leather-appointed seating. It suits you best if you want the most upscale Acadia experience.
The safety-package content is strongest on the SLT trims, where more driver-assistance features come standard or are added through the available packages.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2019 GMC Acadia?
This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.
- Deal availability: 32.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 2,443 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 10.46% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 65.1% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $17,278, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2019 GMC Acadia's resale value?
The current average of $17,278 sits slightly below last year's $19,295.
That price movement suggests the Acadia has already absorbed a meaningful amount of depreciation, which can help future sellers if the market stabilizes. If you buy at the current average or below, you may have less downside than someone who bought when prices were higher. Condition will matter a lot, though, because buyers in this segment tend to compare closely on history, equipment, and overall presentation.
Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.43/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2019 GMC Acadia safe?
It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.
The Acadia comes standard with front- and side-impact airbags, a reversing camera, and traction control. Driver Alert Package 1 adds blind-spot warning, lane-change alert, and rear park assist, while Driver Alert Package 2 adds low-speed forward automatic braking, lane-departure warning, pedestrian detection, forward-collision alert, adaptive headlights and high beams, rear cross-traffic alert, and front and rear parking sensors.
That means you should pay close attention to trim level and option content if safety tech matters to you, since some of the more useful driver-assistance features are not standard on every version.
Should I buy a 2019 GMC Acadia or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2019 if:
- 32.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 65.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 10.46% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.43/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
- CarGurus recommends the SLT-1 AWD test model for its stronger standard content and balanced value.
Consider the 2018 if:
- At $15,549, the 2018 costs less than the current year's $17,278 average.
- It gained broader V6 availability and improved handling, braking, and fuel economy.
Consider the 2020 if:
- At $20,311, the 2020 costs more than the current year's $17,278 average.
- It adds bolder styling, a turbo four-cylinder, and updated technology.
The bottom line: If you want the best balance of price, equipment, and overall satisfaction, the 2019 is the primary year to target. If your budget is tighter, the 2018 can save you money, while the 2020 makes sense only if you want the newer styling and updates enough to justify the higher price.
