Overview

When the Ford Transit Connect arrived on the market in 2009, it quickly became a hit with businesses for its practical design and functional features. Over the past ten years, Ford has continuously updated the Transit Connect to keep pace with the needs of modern businesses, and 2019 is no different. The 2019 Transit Connect offers updated features along with a sharp new look.
Ford offers two versions of the Transit Connect: a cargo van and a wagon. The cargo vans have panel sides, and the wagons come with full-length windows and up to three rows of seating. Both versions are available in short and long-wheelbase format, and both feature dual-sliding doors. The short-wheelbase wagon holds five people, and the long-wheelbase wagon can seat 7 in folding seats, which creates ample cargo space, if necessary.
The Transit Connect cargo van has a large, flat vinyl load floor, and tall, near-vertical walls with integrated tie-downs. The rear doors swing out 180 degrees and can be locked out in the open position, making it easy to load a standard 48-inch forklift pallet.
While the Ford Transit Connect wagon offers three trims – XL, XLT, and Titanium – the cargo van is more customizable. Ford works with many aftermarket up fitters and suppliers to fit the van to handle ladders, roof racks, and other cargo management solutions. Both versions feature an updated dashboard and infotainment system. The new instrument panel is fully digital, and the SYNC infotainment system can be operated by 6.5-inch floating touchscreen. It runs SYNC 3, which features Ford+Alexa personal assistant, allowing drivers to connect their van to the Amazon system. The Transit Connect also comes standard with 4G LTE connectivity for up to 10 devices and offers other features like wireless device charging.
The Transit Connect has a turning radius of 38.3 feet, making it great for maneuvering through cities or bustling work yards. Plus, when properly equipped, the Transit Connect can tow up to 2,000 pounds.
Under the hood, the base engine in the Transit Connect is a naturally aspirated 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine. It features automatic stop-start and is paired to an 8-speed automatic transmission, sending power to the front wheels. This standard setup is E85-compatible, and it also features a heavy duty battery and alternator. Ford will also offer a 1.5-liter EcoBlue diesel engine in the new Transit Connect. This engine is also paired to the 8-speed automatic transmission and features EcoMode and EcoCoach to help with fuel economy. Buyers purchasing the Transit Connect as a fleet vehicle can also choose a 2.5-liter inline four-cylinder engine paired to a 6-speed automatic transmission, and Ford also offers prep packages to use compressed natural gas or propane.
Ford equips the Transit Connect with an impressive list of safety gear. Automatic Emergency Braking and a reversing camera are standard equipment, and as is a wind stabilization feature. Standalone safety options include a Blind Spot Information System with cross-traffic alert, adaptive cruise control, and lane-keep assist.
The Ford Transit Connect is a trusty workhorse for thousands of businesses across the country, and Ford has also shown that it can be an incredibly versatile passenger vehicle for those that need plenty of space without having to opt for a larger, less-efficient vehicle.

I found the passenger version more appealing than the cargo version. Many more options, far far more comfortable of a ride. The noise, bouncing ride, loud noise and lack of leg room in the cargo van made my days long and wore me out by the end of the day. I have to drive many miles a day and this van has made it great! A few mods, like a cargo floor made of melamine, 2-2x12 boards along the sides, and a wire grate from a chrome shelf velcro to the headrests and a few plastic totes for loose items, has made this a very workable work van.. then I can easily convert to a family wagon when needed. I also found the wagons to be lower miles and well cared for. As opposed to the cargo vans that were in accidents, had very high miles, and we’re often more expensive. The 2.5L engine is the way to go though. The 2.0L is too under powered. I would avoid that and the new 8 speed transmission they are using to try and make a 2 L engine work again. This is my second transit connect. First one was a 2011 first gen. This one seems to have addressed the issues such as power, leg room, and looking like I was driving a toaster! I would recommend this truck to others.

Reviewers consistently praise the spacious interior, excellent gas mileage, and quiet ride, and many also like the comfort-enhancing features, especially in the passenger version. Is the 2019 Ford Transit Connect reliable?
Owners rate it 4.8/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
The review summary also points to a vehicle that many owners find dependable and easy to live with, especially when they value the quiet ride, comfort, and practical interior space. That kind of feedback suggests the model can be a sensible choice if you want something you can count on for regular use. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is making sure you avoid examples with unresolved engine or condition issues.
What should I look for when buying a used 2019 Ford Transit Connect?
At 73.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should start with a vehicle history report so you can screen out listings with accident or title issues before you spend time on a test drive. Then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, with extra attention to body condition, interior wear, and any signs of prior repair work. It also makes sense to focus on how the vehicle drives and whether the engine feels strong and consistent, since some owners mention power concerns with certain engine options.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2019 Ford Transit Connect?
This looks like a moderate market where selective buyers can still find value if they compare listings carefully.
- Deal availability: 32.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 813 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 6.85% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 73.1% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $14,753, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2019 Ford Transit Connect's resale value?
The current average of $14,920 sits slightly below last year's $16,017.
That price movement suggests the market has cooled a bit, which can help you buy more affordably now but may also limit short-term upside if you plan to sell soon. If you own one for several years, the combination of steady demand and a broad shopper base can still support resale value, especially if you keep mileage and condition in check. A well-kept example should be easier to move than one with accident history or visible wear.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.8/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Should I buy a 2019 Ford Transit Connect or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2019 if:
- 32.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 73.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 6.85% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.8/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
The bottom line: If you want the strongest mix of current value and owner satisfaction, the 2019 is the primary year to focus on. If you're especially price-sensitive, compare it against nearby years to see whether a lower asking price outweighs the 2019's current market position and buyer appeal.
