Why it stands out
The 2019 Ford Taurus stands out as the final version of Ford’s long-running full-size sedan, and its appeal is rooted in being a roomy, comfortable, and straightforward choice for buyers who want a lot of car for the money. By the time it exited the American market in 2019, it was outclassed by full-size sedan competitors from Buick, Chevrolet, Chrysler, Dodge, Honda, Hyundai, Kia, and Toyota, but it still offered the kind of spacious, reliable transportation that made late-model examples attractive to practical shoppers. Owners also commonly praise its comfort, strong performance, smooth ride, and impressive handling, especially in challenging conditions.
What makes this Taurus distinctive is the mix of size, available power, and equipment it carried near the end of the line. The sixth-generation Taurus launched for the 2010 model year as a full-size sedan, and for 2019 it remained part of that final run. The Taurus SHO version built on the sixth-generation platform used a 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 with 365 horsepower and 350 lb-ft of torque, and the AWD Taurus SHO from 2010-2019 was described as the most powerful and quickest Taurus SHO in the model’s history. For shoppers focused on value rather than performance, the Taurus also had a reputation as a good deal when cheap, reliable, spacious transportation was the priority.
At the same time, the Taurus was not without drawbacks. The pros and cons list points to pedestrian performance from non-SHO models and outdated technology, which helps explain why the car could feel less compelling than newer rivals even if it remained comfortable and roomy. That balance of strengths and limitations is part of what defines the 2019 Ford Taurus: a practical, full-size sedan with real space and available muscle, but one whose age was increasingly hard to ignore.

How much does the 2019 Ford Taurus cost?
| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| Current Average Price | $13,838 |
| Year-Round Low | $13,805 |
| Year-Round High | $14,984 |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $14,768 |
| Change vs. Last Year | −6.30% |
Prices have softened 6.30% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.
There are 298 listings available, which gives you a modest amount of inventory to compare before you buy.
Is the 2019 Ford Taurus a good car?
Yes — owners rate it 5/5, and that lines up with the Taurus’s appeal as a roomy, comfortable, and straightforward full-size sedan. Reviewers repeatedly praise its comfort, spaciousness, strong performance, smooth ride, and impressive handling, and the overview also frames it as a practical choice when you want a lot of car for the money. For you, that means the 2019 Taurus makes the most sense if you value space, comfort, and easy everyday use more than cutting-edge tech or the latest design. 31.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which suggests there are still worthwhile opportunities in the market.
Is the 2019 Ford Taurus reliable?
Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
The owner feedback also points to a car that feels dependable, with praise centered on comfort, smoothness, and the kind of trouble-free transportation shoppers often want from a used full-size sedan. That said, the model’s age means you should still expect condition to vary from one example to the next, so a careful inspection matters. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is less about the model’s basic appeal and more about finding a well-maintained example that has been cared for consistently.
What should I look for when buying a used 2019 Ford Taurus?
At 63.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should start with a vehicle history report so you can separate clean examples from cars with prior damage or repeated claims. After that, prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially on body condition, alignment, tires, and signs of uneven wear that can hint at past repairs. Because this is a larger, older sedan, you’ll want to focus on overall condition and maintenance quality rather than just mileage alone.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2019 Ford Taurus?
This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently and still find value if you compare listings carefully.
- Deal availability: 31.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 298 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 6.30% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 63.4% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $13,805, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2019 Ford Taurus's resale value?
The current average of $13,838 sits slightly below last year's $14,768.
That price movement suggests the Taurus has already moved into a more buyer-friendly range, which can make it easier for future sellers to compete on value. If you buy well and keep the car in strong condition, you may be better positioned to limit depreciation pressure. The model’s practical appeal still helps, but the market is clearly rewarding clean, well-priced examples more than average ones.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Should I buy a 2019 Ford Taurus or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2019 if:
- 31.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 63.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 6.30% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
The bottom line:
If you want the last version of the Taurus and you value a roomy, comfortable full-size sedan with strong owner approval, the 2019 is the primary year to target. If you’re especially price-sensitive, you can still find attractive alternatives by comparing nearby model years and focusing on the cleanest, best-maintained listings rather than chasing the lowest sticker price alone.
