Is the 2019 Ford F-150 a good car?

Yes — the 2019 Ford F-150 earns a 4.57/5 user rating and an 8.17/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Performance and Form and function.

The overview frames it as a proven full-size pickup that can tow, haul, carry people and goods, and even serve as a family road-trip vehicle or a night-out ride.

That combination of everyday versatility and broad capability helps explain why it remains appealing even without a full redesign. The market also shows 31.4% good or great deals, which suggests there are still worthwhile opportunities if you shop carefully.

Is the 2019 Ford F-150 reliable?

Owners rate it 4.57/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner summary points to a truck that feels dependable in daily use, with praise centered on comfort, power, and value. It also suggests the F-150 is the kind of truck owners feel good about keeping for the long haul, especially when they want a vehicle that can handle work and family duties without feeling fragile.

The expert drive notes that the diesel setup is smooth, quiet, and easy to live with, which reinforces the sense that the truck is built to be counted on. It also mentions stop/start-related wear-and-tear concerns over time, so used buyers should pay attention to maintenance history and how the truck has been driven.

What should I look for when buying a used 2019 Ford F-150?

At 73.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle-history report and then prioritize a thorough inspection of bodywork, frame condition, and signs of uneven wear. Because this truck was offered in many configurations, it also makes sense to focus on whether the specific truck you’re considering has the equipment and condition you expect for the price.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The XL is a stripped-down work truck with a reversing camera, AM/FM radio, a 4.2-inch audio-system screen, and dynamic hitch assist, while the XLT adds power windows and locks plus an 8-inch Sync 3 screen. Higher trims add leather, heated and ventilated front seats, luxury materials, and features such as power-deploying running boards, with the Limited bringing the most upscale equipment.
• Powertrain: Engine choices include a 3.3-liter V6, a 2.7-liter twin-turbo EcoBoost V6, a 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6, a 5.0-liter V8, and a 3.0-liter Power Stroke turbodiesel V6. The diesel is described as smooth and quiet, and it can tow up to 11,400 pounds when properly equipped.
• Safety package: The truck includes front- and side-impact airbags, traction control, and a reversing camera, with blind-spot monitoring, forward-collision avoidance, adaptive cruise control, and rear cross-traffic alert available. The 360-degree camera system is standard on the Limited and optional on the rest of the lineup.
• Infotainment: The base XL uses a 4.2-inch center-stack screen with Bluetooth, while XLT and higher trims get Sync 3 with an 8-inch color touchscreen. Sync 3 supports Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and an available Wi-Fi hotspot appears on higher trims.
• Fuel efficiency: The diesel returns 22 mpg city, 30 highway, and 25 combined with rear-wheel drive, or 20 city, 25 highway, and 22 combined with 4WD. The 2.7-liter EcoBoost returns 20 mpg city, 26 highway, and 22 combined with RWD, while the V8 with 4WD returns 16 city, 22 highway, and 18 combined.

Which 2019 Ford F-150 trim should I buy?

The 2019 Ford F-150 is offered in 7 trim levels: XL, XLT, Lariat, King Ranch, Platinum, Raptor, and Limited.

Here's the short version:

• XL: This is the work-truck choice, and it makes sense if you want the lowest-cost entry point and can live with the most basic equipment. It’s best if you care more about utility than comfort, but the sparse cabin means most shoppers will want to move up.
• XLT: This is the best-value trim for many buyers because it adds power windows and locks, the larger 8-inch Sync 3 screen, and a USB port without jumping too far up the price ladder. If you want the most balanced mix of everyday convenience and affordability, this is the trim to target.
• Lariat: This trim adds a leather interior, heated and ventilated front seats, and satellite radio, making it a strong step up if you want a more comfortable daily driver. It suits buyers who want a nicer cabin without going all the way into luxury-truck territory.
• King Ranch: This trim leans into upscale character with its Camel Back upholstery option and distinctive interior details. It’s a good fit if you want a premium-feeling truck with personality and you’re willing to pay for it.
• Platinum: This trim pushes further into luxury with unique wood-panel interior treatment and power-deploying running boards. Choose it if you want a more polished, high-end feel and value convenience features.
• Raptor: This is the full-fledged off-road performance truck, with a wide-body kit, underbody armor, and specially designed Fox Racing Shox. It’s the right pick if you want the most aggressive, specialized version of the lineup.
• Limited: This is the top luxury choice, with 22-inch polished aluminum wheels, a dual-panel moonroof, dual exhaust, and massaging seats. It’s the one to buy if you want the most feature-rich F-150 and don’t mind paying for it.

The safety package is broad, but the 360-degree camera is standard only on the Limited and optional elsewhere, so that feature can be a useful deciding factor.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2019 Ford F-150?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop with some leverage if you’re patient.

• Deal availability: 31.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 9,652 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.42% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 73.4% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $26,023, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2019 Ford F-150's resale value?

The current average of $26,023 sits slightly below last year's $27,808.

That softer pricing can help you buy more carefully now, but it also means future resale will depend heavily on how well you preserve the truck’s condition and equipment. A well-kept F-150 with desirable features should remain easier to move than one with accident history or a stripped-down configuration.

Because the market has already adjusted downward, a clean, well-optioned truck may hold up better than the average listing. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.57/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2019 Ford F-150 safe?

The 2019 Ford F-150 earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard safety features include a full array of front- and side-impact airbags, traction control, and a reversing camera. The truck is also available with blind-spot monitoring, forward-collision avoidance, adaptive cruise control, and rear cross-traffic alert, while the 360-degree camera system is standard on the Limited and optional on the rest of the lineup.

That setup gives you a solid safety foundation, but the availability of some helpful features varies by trim, so you should confirm exactly what’s included on the truck you’re considering.

Should I buy a 2019 Ford F-150 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2019 if:

• 31.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 73.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.42% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.57/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2019 brings modest updates while staying familiar and broadly useful.

Consider the 2018 if:

• At $23,911, the 2018 costs less than the current year's $26,023 average.
• It is a highly well-rounded pickup with standout towing and fuel economy.

Consider the 2020 if:

• At $28,010, the 2020 costs more than the current year's $26,023 average.
• It adds a more accommodating modern interior and comfortable road manners.

The bottom line: If you want a proven, versatile full-size pickup with strong owner satisfaction, the 2019 is the sensible middle ground. If price is your top priority, the 2018 is the better value play; if you want to spend more for a newer-feeling cabin, the 2020 is worth a look.
