How much does the 2019 Ford Explorer cost?

Prices have softened 9.88% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 5,776 listings available, which suggests solid inventory for comparison shopping.

Is the 2019 Ford Explorer a good car?

Yes — the 4.6/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction. Owners commonly praise its value for money, powerful engine options, and advanced features, and the Explorer’s roomy, family-oriented layout fits shoppers who want a practical midsize SUV with useful everyday space. For you, that makes it a sensible pick if you want a versatile three-row SUV with a familiar shape and broad equipment availability. 34.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2019 Ford Explorer reliable?

Owners rate it 4.6/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

User feedback highlights reliability as a positive, along with the sense that the vehicle feels dependable and capable over time. That said, the broader model-year context suggests you should still shop carefully, since long-term ownership risk can rise if maintenance history is unclear or if prior wear has been overlooked.

What should I look for when buying a used 2019 Ford Explorer?

At 71.7% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and confirm whether any reported damage was repaired properly. A pre-purchase inspection should focus on body condition, signs of prior collision repair, and overall mechanical health. Pay close attention to how the vehicle presents in person, because condition differences can matter a lot in a used SUV with mixed history.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2019 Ford Explorer?

This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 34.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 5,776 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.88% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 71.7% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $16,789, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2019 Ford Explorer's resale value?

The current average of $16,789 sits slightly below last year's $18,631.

That price movement suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy at a more favorable entry point. If you plan to resell later, the current softness may limit near-term upside, but it can also make the vehicle easier to move if you buy well. Strong owner satisfaction can help support demand when it’s time to sell.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.6/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2019 Ford Explorer or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2019 if:

• 34.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 71.7% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.88% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.6/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2020 if:

• At $21,687, the 2020 costs more than the current year's $16,789 average.
• It brings a fresh chassis and a major technology upgrade.

The bottom line: If you want the better value, the 2019 is the stronger starting point because it combines lower pricing with solid owner satisfaction and decent deal availability. If you’re willing to pay more for the newer redesign and upgraded tech, the 2020 is the better secondary path for buyers who prioritize the latest platform over price.
