Excellent driver, exceptional roominess front AND rear seat. Tons more space behind the second row than my Lincoln MKC (my trade in). I’m blown away that this Ford Edge is more quiet and rides better than the smaller MKC. Disappointments are no power lift gate, no garage door opener feature. Very comfortable leather seats, and the SEL comes standard with many safety features. So far very satisfied.

2019 Ford Edge Price Trends
CarGurus tracks the prices of millions of used car listings every year. See how the average price of 2019 Ford Edge prices has changed over time.
See more price trendsHow much does the 2019 Ford Edge cost?
| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| Current Average Price | $15,695 |
| Year-Round Low | $15,306.42 |
| Year-Round High | $17,137.57 |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $17,130 |
| Change vs. Last Year | −8.38% |
Prices have softened 8.38% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.
There are 2,650 listings available, which gives you a solid amount of inventory to compare.
If you find a listing below $15,306.42, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
Is the 2019 Ford Edge a good car?
Yes — the 4.77/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction, and the expert rating is 7.33/10. The standout strength is Safety at 9/10.
Owners consistently praise the spacious interior, strong power, and family-friendly comfort. The Edge also gets credit for useful features and road-trip appeal, which fits its role as a midsize SUV for commuting and hauling people or cargo.
The overview also frames it as a well-rounded choice with performance, comfort, and practicality, while the ST variant broadens the appeal if you want extra speed. With 30.3% of listings marked as good or great deals, there’s meaningful market opportunity if you shop carefully.
Is the 2019 Ford Edge reliable?
Owners rate it 4.77/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
The owner feedback points to a vehicle that feels dependable in daily use, with repeated praise for strong power, comfort, and family usefulness. That kind of feedback matters because it suggests you can count on the Edge to handle regular commuting and longer trips without feeling fragile.
The expert notes also support that impression, saying the EcoBoost engine “gets the job done and won’t let you down,” which is a reassuring dependability signal. The cost-effectiveness commentary adds that the Edge delivers what people need, including cargo space and rear passenger space, even if the cabin materials feel dated.
For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is less about outright durability and more about whether you’re comfortable living with an older-feeling interior and the possibility of missing features on lower trims.
What should I look for when buying a used 2019 Ford Edge?
At 74.6% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the listing price looks unusually attractive. Focus on condition details that matter in a used SUV: signs of prior bodywork, interior wear, and whether the equipment you want is actually present on the trim you’re considering.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The base SE comes with 18-inch alloy wheels, keyless entry, push-button start, and rain-sensing wipers, while the SEL adds black roof rails, dual-zone climate control, power-adjustable front seats, rear parking sensors, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel. The cabin is described as dated, with heavy plastic use and a 4.2-inch non-touchscreen on the base setup.
- Powertrain: Non-ST trims use a 2.0-liter EcoBoost turbocharged four-cylinder with 250 horsepower and 280 pound-feet of torque, paired with an 8-speed automatic and available AWD. The ST uses a 2.7-liter EcoBoost V6 with 335 hp and 380 lb-ft, and it delivers much stronger acceleration.
- Safety package: Ford Co-Pilot360 is standard and includes automatic emergency braking, forward-collision warning, lane-departure warning, automatic high-beams, and blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert. Co-Pilot360 Assist+ adds adaptive cruise control, evasive steering assist, and lane-centering, but it is an upgrade rather than standard equipment.
- Infotainment: The base system uses a 4.2-inch non-touchscreen with USB, WiFi hotspot, streaming music, Bluetooth, and voice recognition. An 8-inch Sync 3 system is available on the SEL and standard on the Titanium and ST, with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Amazon Alexa integration.
- Fuel efficiency: The most efficient version returns 22 mpg city, 29 highway, and 25 combined, while the ST returns 19/26/21. In testing, the ST averaged 19.9 mpg.
Which 2019 Ford Edge trim should I buy?
The 2019 Ford Edge is offered in 4 trim levels: SE, SEL, Titanium, and ST.
Here's the short version:
- Base trim: The SE gives you the essentials, but it also has the most dated-feeling cabin setup and the least impressive infotainment experience, with the small 4.2-inch non-touchscreen.
- Sweet-spot trim: The SEL is the best value because it adds useful everyday upgrades like dual-zone climate control, power-adjustable front seats, rear parking sensors, and access to the better 8-inch Sync 3 system.
- Premium/top trim: The Titanium is the best pick if you want more luxury and tech, since it makes the 8-inch Sync 3 system standard and adds features like leather upholstery, wireless charging, remote start, and a premium sound system.
- Off-road trim: The ST is the performance choice, not the practical value choice, and its stronger engine and higher price make it less compelling for typical daily driving.
Ford’s Co-Pilot360 safety suite is standard across the lineup, and Co-Pilot360 Assist+ is available on trims above the SE.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2019 Ford Edge?
This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you’re patient.
- Deal availability: 30.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 2,650 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 8.38% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 74.6% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $15,306.42, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2019 Ford Edge's resale value?
The current average of $15,695 sits slightly below last year's $17,130.
That price movement suggests the Edge has already absorbed a meaningful amount of depreciation, which can help future sellers if they buy at the right price. If you purchase near the lower end of the current range, you reduce the amount of value left to lose before resale.
The market also appears reasonably active, which matters because a broad buyer pool can support future demand. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.77/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2019 Ford Edge safe?
It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.
The Edge comes standard with Ford’s Co-Pilot360 driver-assistance suite, which includes automatic emergency braking, forward-collision warning, lane-departure warning, automatic high-beams, and blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert. That gives you a strong standard safety foundation even before you move up the trim ladder.
All trims above the SE can be upgraded with Co-Pilot360 Assist+ for adaptive cruise control, evasive steering assist, and lane-centering. If you want the most advanced driver-assistance setup, you’ll need to shop above the base trim.
Should I buy a 2019 Ford Edge or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2019 if:
- 30.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 74.6% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 8.38% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.77/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
- The 2019 brings a facelift, updated exterior styling, and Ford Co-Pilot360 standard.
Consider the 2020 if:
- At $17,378, the 2020 costs more than the current year's $15,695 average.
- It adds SYNC 3 and keeps the standard safety suite while moving the model forward.
The bottom line: If you want the better value play, the 2019 is the smarter buy because pricing has softened and the standard safety package is strong. If you’re willing to spend more for a newer model year and updated tech, the 2020 is the cleaner alternative.
