Used 2019 Chevrolet Equinox for Sale nearMalibu, CA

How much does the 2019 Chevrolet Equinox cost?

Prices have softened 11.16% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

With 5,966 listings available, you have a solid amount of inventory to compare before you buy.

Is the 2019 Chevrolet Equinox a good car?

Yes — the 2019 Chevrolet Equinox earns a 4.7/5 user rating and a 7.17/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Safety at 9/10.

Owners consistently praise its smooth ride, spacious interior, and good fuel economy, and many also like the powerful engine and the feature set that improves day-to-day driving. In use, it fits shoppers who want a compact SUV that emphasizes comfort and practicality more than excitement. Even so, the overview makes clear that it is still not a class leader, so you should view it as a strong everyday choice rather than a segment benchmark.

The model also closes the gap with useful updates for 2019, including improved cameras and an updated infotainment system. Good and great deals account for 30.5% of listings, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2019 Chevrolet Equinox reliable?

Owners rate it 4.7/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The user feedback points to a vehicle that many drivers feel they can count on for comfortable daily use, with repeated praise for its smooth ride, spacious cabin, and good fuel economy. That same feedback also highlights a generally dependable ownership experience, especially for shoppers who value a trouble-free commuter or family SUV. The expert notes reinforce that impression by describing the Equinox as a practical, easy-to-live-with compact crossover with solid everyday manners.

The main long-term ownership risk for used buyers is trim and equipment selection, since some desirable features are pushed into pricier packages or higher trims.

What should I look for when buying a used 2019 Chevrolet Equinox?

At 64% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a careful inspection of body panels, lighting, and any signs of prior repair. Because the model’s visibility and safety equipment vary by trim and package, it also makes sense to confirm exactly which features are present on the specific vehicle you’re considering. Focus on condition first, then compare equipment second.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base L trim is special-order only and lacks a spare tire, a compass, and most paint choices, while the LS adds only modest equipment. The LT is the practical starting point, and the Premier is where advanced safety features become available.
• Powertrain: You get three engines, including a diesel. The 1.5-liter turbo is efficient but underpowered, while the 2.0-liter turbo delivers the strongest performance and the diesel emphasizes torque and fuel economy.
• Safety package: Blind-spot monitoring is optional on the LT and standard only on the Premier, while adaptive cruise and pedestrian detection with auto braking are expensive-package items on the top trims.
• Infotainment: The updated system includes an 8-inch touchscreen on equipped models, plus standard Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. HD camera upgrades are a major plus, and the system can be paired with navigation and extra USB ports.
• Fuel efficiency: The 1.5-liter turbo is rated at 26 mpg city and 32 highway with FWD. The diesel is rated at 28 mpg city and 39 highway, and the 2.0-liter turbo AWD setup is rated at 22 mpg city and 28 highway, with 24 mpg combined.

Which 2019 Chevrolet Equinox trim should I buy?

The 2019 Chevrolet Equinox is offered in 4 trim levels: L, LS, LT, Premier.

Here's the short version:

• L: This is the cheapest entry point, but it is special-order only and strips out too much equipment for most used buyers. You also lose practical basics like a spare tire and broader paint choices, so it is hard to recommend unless price is your only concern.
• LS: This is the real starting trim, but it adds only a little over the L. You get the spare tire and compass back, along with a few extra paint options and modest convenience upgrades, but it still feels sparse.
• LT: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers. It opens the door to the stronger engine choices, the updated infotainment system, and useful packages such as the Sun and Navigation and Confidence and Convenience bundles.
• Premier: This is the trim to choose if you want the most complete feature set, including access to the advanced safety features that are unavailable or optional lower down.

The safety-package gap is important here: blind-spot monitoring is only optional on the LT and standard on the Premier, while adaptive cruise and pedestrian detection with auto braking are reserved for expensive packages on the top trims.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2019 Chevrolet Equinox?

This is a moderate buyer’s market, so you can shop selectively without expecting a fire sale.

• Deal availability: 30.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 5,966 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.16% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 64.0% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $13,903, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2019 Chevrolet Equinox's resale value?

The current average of $13,903 sits slightly below last year's $15,650.

That decline suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you as a buyer today but may limit upside if you plan to resell soon. If you buy at the right price and keep the vehicle in strong condition, you reduce the risk of taking a bigger depreciation hit later. Trim choice matters too, since better-equipped versions with broader appeal are usually easier to move on the used market.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.7/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2019 Chevrolet Equinox safe?

The 2019 Chevrolet Equinox earns top marks in both government and independent testing.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

The Equinox’s safety story is strong overall, but there are a few important caveats. The headlights are a weak point, with both the lower-trim halogens and upper-trim HIDs earning a Marginal IIHS rating, though the available Lights and Bright package adds LEDs that address that issue. Blind-spot monitoring is not standard until the Premier trim, and adaptive cruise and pedestrian detection with auto braking are limited to expensive packages on the top trims.

Should I buy a 2019 Chevrolet Equinox or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2019 if:

• 30.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 64% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.16% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.7/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2019 adds updated cameras and infotainment, which improve visibility and everyday usability.

Consider the 2018 if:

• At $12,326, the 2018 costs less than the current year's $13,903 average.
• It offers a newly redesigned compact SUV with a clearer identity.

Consider the 2020 if:

• At $15,325, the 2020 costs more than the current year's $13,903 average.
• It adds standard advanced safety features and easier everyday usability.

The bottom line: If you want the best balance of price, updated tech, and broad inventory, the 2019 is the smart default. If your budget is tighter, the 2018 can save you money, while the 2020 makes sense if you want to spend more for a more complete safety and convenience package.
