Is the 2019 BMW M5 a good car?

Yes — the 2019 BMW M5 earns a 5/5 user rating, which points to very strong owner satisfaction. Owners consistently praise its incredible power, luxury, and performance, and many also call out its exceptional speed and solid handling. That makes it especially appealing if you want a high-performance luxury sedan that still works as an everyday car. Is the 2019 BMW M5 reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback also emphasizes that the car feels dependable and trouble-free in the ways that matter most to enthusiasts who want serious performance without constant drama. That said, used buyers should still plan for the usual long-term ownership risk that comes with a high-performance luxury sedan.

What should I look for when buying a used 2019 BMW M5?

At 60% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and confirm whether any prior damage was cosmetic or structural. A pre-purchase inspection should focus on signs of past repairs, uneven panel gaps, tire wear, and any evidence that the car was driven hard or maintained inconsistently. Because this model is performance-focused, condition matters as much as mileage when you evaluate a used example.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2019 BMW M5?

This is a moderate buyer’s market, so you can be selective without expecting every listing to be a bargain.

• Deal availability: 32% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 150 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.06% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 60% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $52,403, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2019 BMW M5's resale value?

The current average of $52,460 sits slightly below last year's $55,844.

That softer pricing can help you buy more confidently now, but it also means future resale gains may be limited if the market stays under pressure. For a seller, the current trend suggests you should expect value retention to depend heavily on condition, mileage, and service history rather than broad market appreciation. Well-kept examples should still attract attention from shoppers who want a powerful luxury sedan with strong owner approval.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2019 BMW M5 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2019 if:

• 32% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 60% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.06% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line:
The 2019 is a strong choice if you want the M5’s blend of huge power, all-weather capability, and high owner satisfaction, especially if you can find a clean example with a solid history. If you’re more price-sensitive, you may want to compare nearby years and focus on the best-maintained car rather than the newest badge.
