How much does the 2019 BMW 5 Series cost?

Prices have softened 9.28% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,362 listings available, which suggests you have a solid amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2019 BMW 5 Series a good car?

Yes — the 4.89/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction. Owners consistently praise the blend of sportiness and luxury, the fun-to-drive feel, and the well-designed cabin, while the intuitive interface and heads-up display also stand out. For you, that means this model year fits especially well if you want a midsize luxury sedan that still feels engaging rather than purely soft-riding. With 37.8% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is also enough market activity to make shopping selective but worthwhile.

Is the 2019 BMW 5 Series reliable?

Owners rate it 4.89/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a car that many drivers find dependable enough to live with day to day, especially when they value a refined, well-built luxury sedan. The praise for the car’s overall balance and the positive comments about its technology and driving experience suggest it can be a trouble-free choice when maintained properly. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is less about the model’s appeal and more about making sure the specific car you choose has been cared for consistently.

What should I look for when buying a used 2019 BMW 5 Series?

At 61.8% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should run a vehicle history report before you commit, then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection so you can catch any hidden repair issues. Focus closely on body condition, panel alignment, and signs of past damage, since accident history can affect both long-term ownership confidence and resale value. It also helps to compare service records and overall wear so you can separate a clean, well-kept example from one that only looks good on the surface.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2019 BMW 5 Series?

This is a moderate market, so you can be selective without expecting every listing to be a bargain.

• Deal availability: 37.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,362 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.28% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 61.8% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $20,287, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2019 BMW 5 Series's resale value?

The current average of $20,287 sits slightly below last year's $22,364.

That softer pricing can help you buy more carefully now, but it also means future sellers may need to be realistic about expectations if the market stays similar. A model year that has already moved down in price can be easier to justify to buyers if it is clean, well maintained, and priced competitively. Strong owner satisfaction can also help keep demand steady when you eventually sell.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.89/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2019 BMW 5 Series or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2019 if:

• 37.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 61.8% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.28% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.89/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2018 if:

• At $18,345, the 2018 costs less than the current year's $20,287 average.
• It adds a plug-in hybrid option that makes efficiency part of the appeal.

The bottom line: You should lean toward the 2019 if you want the stronger overall market balance of price, satisfaction, and available inventory. If your priority is spending less up front, the 2018 is the better value-oriented alternative, especially if the plug-in hybrid setup fits your needs.
