How much does the 2019 BMW 5 Series cost?

Prices have softened 10.84% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,396 listings available, which gives you a solid pool of options to compare.

Is the 2019 BMW 5 Series a good car?

Yes — the 4.9/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction. Owners consistently praise the blend of sportiness and luxury, the fun-to-drive feel, and the well-designed cabin, while the intuitive interface and heads-up display also stand out. For you, that means this model year fits well if you want a midsize luxury sedan that still leans into BMW’s performance-first character without giving up everyday comfort. With 35.5% of listings marked as good or great deals, there’s also a decent amount of market opportunity if you shop carefully.

Is the 2019 BMW 5 Series reliable?

Owners rate it 4.9/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback also points to a dependable, trouble-free ownership experience for many shoppers, with praise centered on the car’s overall polish and the confidence it inspires over time. That said, used-car reliability always depends on how the specific vehicle was maintained, so you should still prioritize service records and condition over mileage alone. For long-term ownership, the safest path is to focus on examples with clean histories and consistent maintenance.

What should I look for when buying a used 2019 BMW 5 Series?

At 60.7% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should run a vehicle history report before you get serious about any listing, especially if the price looks unusually attractive. Put inspection priority on bodywork, panel alignment, and signs of prior repair, then confirm that the cabin electronics, driver-assist features, and suspension feel consistent during a test drive. If possible, favor the cleanest example you can find, because condition matters more than a small savings on a car with this kind of market spread.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2019 BMW 5 Series?

This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you know what to look for.

• Deal availability: 35.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,396 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.84% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 60.7% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $19,798, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2019 BMW 5 Series's resale value?

The current average of $19,798 sits slightly below last year's $22,204.

That price movement suggests the model has already absorbed a meaningful amount of depreciation, which can help future sellers if they buy at the right number today. If you purchase near the lower end of the range and keep the car in strong condition, you may have a better chance of limiting your loss later. Demand should also stay supported by the model’s strong owner satisfaction and broad appeal as a luxury sport sedan.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.9/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2019 BMW 5 Series or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2019 if:

• 35.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 60.7% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.84% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.9/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2018 if:

• At $18,105, the 2018 costs less than the current year's $19,798 average.
• It adds a frugality-minded plug-in hybrid option.

The bottom line: You should lean toward the 2019 if you want the stronger current-market value story and a well-liked ownership experience. If your priority is saving money up front, the 2018 is the better secondary path, especially if you want to spend less and can live with an older model year.
