How much does the 2019 BMW 5 Series cost?

Prices have softened 10.64% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,389 listings available, which suggests solid inventory for shoppers comparing trims and conditions.

Is the 2019 BMW 5 Series a good car?

Yes — the 2019 BMW 5 Series earns a 4.9/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction. Owners consistently praise its blend of sportiness and luxury, along with its fun-to-drive feel and well-designed cabin. The tech also stands out, especially the intuitive interface and head-up display, while the sedan’s premium, more engaging character makes sense if you want a midsize luxury car that feels more alive than a typical commuter car. With 35.3% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have a meaningful chance to find a competitively priced example.

Is the 2019 BMW 5 Series reliable?

Owners rate it 4.9/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback also points to a dependable ownership experience, with praise centered on the car’s well-rounded character and the kind of trouble-free appeal that helps buyers feel confident over time. That said, used luxury sedans can carry higher long-term ownership risk if maintenance has been deferred, so you should pay close attention to service history and overall condition.

What should I look for when buying a used 2019 BMW 5 Series?

At 61.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should run a vehicle history report before you commit, then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection so you can catch hidden bodywork, suspension, or electronics issues. Focus on condition details that matter most in a used luxury sedan: panel alignment, interior wear, infotainment operation, and evidence of consistent maintenance.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2019 BMW 5 Series?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently but should move quickly on the best examples.

• Deal availability: 35.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,389 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.64% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 61.2% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $19,736, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2019 BMW 5 Series's resale value?

The current average of $19,738 sits slightly below last year's $22,090.

That price movement suggests the model has already absorbed a meaningful amount of depreciation, which can help future sellers if the market stabilizes. If you buy well and keep the car in strong condition, you may have a better chance of limiting further value loss. Strong owner satisfaction can also help support demand when it’s time to sell.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.9/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2019 BMW 5 Series or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2019 if:

• 35.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 61.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.64% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.9/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2018 if:

• At $18,219, the 2018 costs less than the current year's $19,738 average.
• It adds the 530e plug-in hybrid, giving you a more efficiency-focused option.

The bottom line: If you want the stronger overall market balance, the 2019 is the better default choice because it combines strong owner satisfaction with a softer price trend and solid inventory. If your top priority is spending less, the 2018 is the smarter value play, especially if you want to save upfront and can live with an older model year.
