How much does the 2019 BMW 3 Series cost?

Prices have softened 6.24% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,394 listings available, which gives you a solid pool to compare prices and equipment.

Is the 2019 BMW 3 Series a good car?

Yes — the 2019 BMW 3 Series earns a 5/5 user rating and an 8.2/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Technology at 10/10.

The 3 Series is framed as a compact luxury sedan that leans into BMW’s traditional sport-sedan formula, with a trim, athletic character and a clear premium identity. It also stands out for its modern digital edge, with BMW’s software and connected features playing a major role in its appeal. That makes it a strong fit if you want a driver-focused luxury sedan with a polished feel and a heavy emphasis on tech.

The market shows 34.9% of listings as good or great deals, which suggests there are worthwhile opportunities if you shop carefully.

Is the 2019 BMW 3 Series reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 3 Series is described as still fundamentally well regarded, and the expert notes emphasize a refined, premium build with a strong engine and polished software. The performance write-up also points to a smooth, torquey turbocharged four-cylinder and an 8-speed automatic that shifts cleanly and intuitively, which supports the impression of a well-sorted drivetrain. BMW also includes three years or 36,000 miles of maintenance and four years of unlimited-mile roadside assistance.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that this is still a complex luxury car, so upkeep can be more expensive than on a simpler sedan.

What should I look for when buying a used 2019 BMW 3 Series?

At 60.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the car has been optioned heavily or shows signs of prior bodywork. Focus on condition, because the 3 Series can be expensive to keep up and the right equipment mix matters a lot in this model. It’s also worth checking that the tech and driver-assistance features you want are actually present, since several are optional.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The standard Sport trim is the value play, while the M Sport package adds a lower and firmer suspension, staggered summer tires, variable-ratio steering, and a widened body kit.
• Powertrain: The 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-4 makes 255 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque, and the 8-speed automatic is praised for its smooth, intuitive shifts.
• Safety package: The Driving Assistance Professional Package adds automatic steering around curves, even on two-lane roads, and uses infrared cameras to monitor your eye movements.
• Infotainment: BMW’s iDrive system is described as superb, with customizable menu tiles, over-the-air updates, wireless Apple CarPlay, remote camera viewing, and a digital key option.
• Fuel efficiency: The rear-wheel-drive version is rated at 26 mpg city, 36 mpg highway, and 30 mpg combined; the xDrive version is rated at 25 mpg city, 34 mpg highway, and 28 mpg combined.

Which 2019 BMW 3 Series trim should I buy?

The 2019 BMW 3 Series is offered in 4 trim levels: 330i, 330i xDrive, M340i, and 330e.

Here's the short version:

• 330i: This is the best-value choice if you want the core 3 Series experience, including the strong turbocharged four-cylinder, the polished 8-speed automatic, and the model’s standout tech without paying for extra hardware you may not need.
• 330i xDrive: Choose this if you want the same basic package with all-wheel drive and slightly different fuel-economy ratings, especially if you live where traction matters more than rear-drive purity.
• M340i: This is the performance step-up, with a twin-turbo six-cylinder and near-M3 output, but it sits in a different price and mission bracket.
• 330e: This plug-in hybrid is mentioned as part of the lineup, but the source does not provide enough detail here to make it the default recommendation.

The safety content also notes that blind-spot monitoring, 360-degree cameras, adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, and Traffic Jam Assist are optional, so check carefully for those features if they matter to you.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2019 BMW 3 Series?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you stay disciplined.

• Deal availability: 34.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,394 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.24% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 60.5% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $19,959, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2019 BMW 3 Series's resale value?

The current average of $19,962 sits slightly below last year's $21,291.

That price movement suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy at a more favorable point in the cycle. If you plan to sell later, the current softness means your future resale will depend heavily on mileage, condition, and equipment. Well-kept examples with desirable options should hold up better than neglected or lightly equipped cars.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2019 BMW 3 Series safe?

The 2019 BMW 3 Series earns a Top Safety Pick+ from IIHS.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

The standard safety setup includes forward emergency braking and pedestrian detection, while blind-spot monitoring, 360-degree cameras, adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, and Traffic Jam Assist are optional. The expert notes also say the car earns the best ratings in all six crash tests, along with the best ratings for the optional laser headlights and standard forward emergency braking.

Should I buy a 2019 BMW 3 Series or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2019 if:

• 34.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 60.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.24% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• BMW’s software and connected-tech upgrades are a major highlight this year.

Consider the 2020 if:

• At $23,219, the 2020 costs more than the current year's $19,962 average.
• It adds the M340i, a stronger performance-focused step between the 330i and the M3.

The bottom line: If you want the better value, the 2019 is the smarter buy because prices are softer and the tech is a standout. If you’re willing to spend more for a newer-year performance step, the 2020 is the path to consider.
