How much does the 2019 BMW 3 Series cost?

Prices have softened 6.73% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,396 listings available, which gives you a solid pool of cars to compare.

Is the 2019 BMW 3 Series a good car?

Yes — it earns a 5/5 user rating and an 8.17/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Technology at 10/10.

The 2019 BMW 3 Series is framed as a compact sport sedan that stays true to BMW’s traditional formula: trim, athletic, handsome, and premium. It also stands out for its software, with the test-drive summary emphasizing that BMW “ups its software game like none other” for this year, while still keeping the car “pretty good” around it.

That makes it a strong fit if you want a small luxury sedan that prioritizes driving character and a polished digital experience over novelty. 35.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2019 BMW 3 Series reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2019 3 Series is presented as a refined, premium sedan with strong execution, and the expert notes reinforce that impression with praise for its polished software, top-class fit and finish, and well-sorted driving character. The performance notes also describe the engine as smooth, full of torque, and sweet-sounding, which supports the sense that the car is engineered to feel cohesive rather than compromised.

BMW also includes three years or 36,000 miles of maintenance and four years with unlimited miles of roadside assistance, which helps soften early ownership costs. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that a premium car like this can become expensive if prior maintenance was skipped or if high-end options need repair.

What should I look for when buying a used 2019 BMW 3 Series?

At 64% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially on cars with higher mileage or a long option list. Focus on condition, maintenance records, and whether the car’s technology and driver-assistance features still work as intended.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The standard Sport trim is the better value than the M Sport setup if you want to avoid paying extra for a firmer suspension, staggered summer tires, variable-ratio steering, and a widened body kit.
• Powertrain: The 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-4 makes 255 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque, and the 8-speed automatic is described as having perfect shifts and intuitive programming. The RWD version is rated at 26/36/30 mpg, while the xDrive version is rated at 25/34/28 mpg.
• Safety package: The Driving Assistance Professional Package adds automatic steering around curves, even on two-lane roads, and the car also offers blind-spot monitoring, 360-degree cameras, adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, and Traffic Jam Assist with evasive steering assist. Some of those features are optional rather than standard.
• Infotainment: BMW’s iDrive system is described as superb, with customizable menu tiles, over-the-air updates, wireless Apple CarPlay, remote camera viewing, a digital key option, and a wireless charging pad.
• Fuel efficiency: The 330i xDrive is rated at 25 mpg city, 34 highway, and 28 combined, while the rear-wheel-drive version is rated at 26/36/30.

Which 2019 BMW 3 Series trim should I buy?

The 2019 BMW 3 Series is offered in 1 trim level: 330i.

Here's the short version:

The 330i is the trim to focus on because it delivers the core 3 Series experience: strong turbocharged four-cylinder performance, an excellent 8-speed automatic, and the car’s standout technology. If you want the best value, look for a well-equipped example without piling on expensive extras that push the price toward luxury-sedan territory.

The safety package note to keep in mind is that blind-spot monitoring, 360-degree cameras, adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, and Traffic Jam Assist are optional rather than standard.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2019 BMW 3 Series?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, with enough inventory to shop carefully and enough deal activity to make patience worthwhile.

• Deal availability: 35.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,396 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.73% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 64.0% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $20,180, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2019 BMW 3 Series's resale value?

The current average of $20,382 sits slightly below last year's $21,853.

That decline suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy at a more favorable entry point today. For a future seller, the key takeaway is that this model year is not showing strong upward price momentum, so resale gains are unlikely to come from market appreciation alone.

Instead, your best chance of protecting value is to buy a clean, well-maintained example with desirable equipment and strong documentation. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2019 BMW 3 Series safe?

The 2019 BMW 3 Series is a Top Safety Pick+ from IIHS.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

The safety content says the car achieved the best ratings in all six crash tests, along with the best ratings for the optional laser headlights and the standard forward emergency braking. Pedestrian detection is also standard.

BMW also offers blind-spot monitoring, 360-degree cameras, adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, and Traffic Jam Assist with evasive steering assist around obstacles. The main caveat is that several advanced driver-assistance features are optional rather than standard.

Should I buy a 2019 BMW 3 Series or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2019 if:

• 35.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 64% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.73% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• BMW’s software and digital features are a major highlight this year.

Consider the 2020 if:

• At $23,778, the 2020 costs more than the current year's $20,382 average.
• It adds a stronger performance focus and broader comfort appeal.

The bottom line: If you want the better value, the 2019 is the smarter buy because it combines a lower average price with strong ratings and standout tech. If you’re willing to spend more for the next model year’s added performance emphasis, the 2020 is the better secondary path.
