Is the 2019 Audi A6 reliable?

Audi’s mild-hybrid system is designed to reduce engine load and help the car coast and stop more efficiently, which supports the sense that this is a well-engineered sedan you can count on. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about the core hardware and more about making sure the car’s advanced electronics and driver-assistance features are working as intended.

What should I look for when buying a used 2019 Audi A6?

At 68.6% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle-history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the car has any prior damage or a long option list. Focus on the condition of the electronics, driver-assistance systems, and interior controls, since this model leans heavily on technology. It’s also worth checking that the cabin, wheels, and suspension show no signs of abuse or repair work.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: Premium Plus is the recommended value pick because it adds the features you’re most likely to want, including Audi Virtual Cockpit, a Bang & Olufsen audio system, a larger 10.1-inch navigation display, and a surround-view camera with Virtual 360 technology. Premium is the entry point, while Prestige brings the most equipment and the most advanced available features.
• Powertrain: The A6 uses a creamy smooth turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 with 335 horsepower and 369 pound-feet of torque, paired with a 7-speed S tronic automated manual transmission and Quattro Ultra all-wheel drive. It also uses a 48-volt mild-hybrid system that helps with fuel-saving coasting and stop-start operation.
• Safety package: Pre Sense systems are standard up front and available for the rear. With the Driver Assistance Package on Premium Plus or Prestige, you get adaptive cruise control with traffic-jam assist and turn assist, active lane assist with emergency assist, intersection assistant, and traffic-sign recognition. Prestige also adds HD Matrix LED headlights with automatic high-beam activation, while the night-vision assistant with pedestrian detection is exclusive to Prestige.
• Infotainment: The A6 uses two touchscreen displays, Audi’s latest MMI interface, a 10.1-inch navigation display, haptic feedback, Google Earth imagery, handwriting recognition, a surround-view camera with 360 Virtual View technology, and natural-voice recognition. Audi Virtual Cockpit is a major highlight.
• Fuel efficiency: The expert test loop returned 22.9 mpg, and the EPA figure cited in the review is 25 mpg.

Which 2019 Audi A6 trim should I buy?

The 2019 Audi A6 is offered in 3 trim levels: Premium, Premium Plus, Prestige.

Here's the short version:

• Premium: This is the entry trim, but the available data shows that the more unusual and sophisticated driver-assistance systems are reserved for higher trims, so this is the least feature-rich choice. It makes sense if you want the A6 experience at the lowest starting point and plan to keep options simple.
• Premium Plus: This is the best-value trim. It adds Audi Virtual Cockpit, the Bang & Olufsen audio system, the larger 10.1-inch navigation display, and the surround-view camera with Virtual 360 technology, and it’s also the trim CarGurus recommends. If you want the strongest mix of luxury, tech, and value, this is the one to target.
• Prestige: This is the most fully equipped version and the one to choose if you want the most advanced available features, including HD Matrix LED headlights and access to the night-vision assistant with pedestrian detection. It suits you best if you want the top-spec experience and are willing to pay for it.

The safety-package features are concentrated in Premium Plus and Prestige, so if advanced driver assistance matters to you, avoid the base trim.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2019 Audi A6?

• Price trend: Prices have softened 12.90% compared with last year.

What is the 2019 Audi A6's resale value?

The current average of $21,246 sits slightly below last year's $24,394.

That price movement suggests the model has softened enough to be attractive on the used market, but it also means future sellers may face some pressure if depreciation continues at the same pace. If you buy well now, you’re starting from a lower entry point, which can help cushion the resale hit later. The A6’s strong owner satisfaction should help support demand when it’s time to sell.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.9/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2019 Audi A6 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2019 if:

• 33.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 68.6% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 12.90% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.9/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2019 stands out for its redesigned cabin, new MMI setup, mild-hybrid powertrain, and more sophisticated driver-assistance technology.

The bottom line: If you want the most modern-feeling version of this generation, the 2019 is the right target because it brings the redesign, the updated tech, and strong owner satisfaction at a lower used price than it carried a year ago. If you’re especially price-sensitive, you can still shop carefully and focus on listings with clean history and the right trim, but the 2019 is the better all-around pick when you want the newer experience.
