About 2019 Aston Martin DB11
The DB11, introduced for 2017, is the latest in Aston Martin’s series of grand tourers. For 2019, Aston Martin makes things more alluring with a new performance trim. It’s hard not to be impressed with the DB11’s dramatic styling. The grille shape, wide lights, and proportions are all classic Aston Martin, but they’re wrapped in a windswept, futuristic shape that appears light on its feet. Inside, everything is wrapped in leather or the finest accent materials, and there’s room for four, although the rear seats are for occasional use. You’ll find one of two engines under the hood of the DB11. The standard unit is a 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 that pumps out 503 horsepower, supplied by partner Mercedes-AMG. If that’s not enough for you, Aston Martin offers a 5.2-liter twin-turbocharged V12 with either 600 or 630 hp if you opt for the performance AMR trim. Either engine powers the rear wheels through an 8-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters and a manual-shifting mode. Aston Martin splits the DB11’s lineup into three distinct trims. There’s the hardtop Coupe, which comes standard with the V8 engine and offers the V12 as an upgrade. If you like an open-top experience, you can opt for the Volante, which is code for “convertible,” with the V8 engine. The new-for-2019 AMR trim tops the range. AMR stands for “Aston Martin Racing,” and the DB11 AMR pays homage to the brand’s racing team with livery in gray and neon yellow, a matching interior scheme, and aggressive front and rear fascias. Mechanically, it gets the uprated 630-hp V12, revised suspension and rear subframe, a higher-end exhaust, larger brakes, and forged wheels designed to save weight. Aston Martin says it’ll fly to 62 miles per hour in 3.7 seconds and on to a top speed of 208 miles per hour. The DB11 delivers respectable fuel economy with 18 mpg city, 24 highway, and 20 combined from the V8 and 15, 22, and 18 from the thirsty V12. Standard equipment on the DB11 includes full-LED exterior lighting, an LCD instrument cluster, an advanced infotainment system with rotary and touchpad control, navigation, memory settings, keyless access and start, a Wi-Fi hotspot, and dual-zone automatic climate control. Options include ventilated seats and an uprated sound system. Beyond that, the DB11 lets you customize all manner of elements, from the material of the diffusers and mirror caps to the color of the roof strake or interior stitching. You can also commission the Q by Aston Martin service, which handles custom requests. Like most other exotic performance cars, safety isn’t the DB11’s primary concern, so the only standard equipment is a set of airbags, a surround-view camera, and front and rear parking sensors. As of this writing, there’s no public crash-testing data on the model. Aston Martin is known for creating cars that are breathtaking in every measure, and the DB11 doesn’t disappoint. If you can afford the starting price, there’s nothing quite like it.
