Is the 2019 Acura RDX a good car?

Generally — the 2019 Acura RDX earns a 4.4/5 user rating and a 7.8/10 expert rating, which points to broad appeal for shoppers who want a practical luxury SUV with a premium feel. The model is described as spacious, loaded with features, and comfortable inside, and owners repeatedly praise its stylish design, comfort, powerful turbo engine, and smooth, quiet ride. What should I look for when buying a used 2019 Acura RDX?

At 70.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the listing price looks unusually attractive. Focus on condition details that matter most in a luxury crossover: interior wear, electronics behavior, and whether the equipment level matches the trim and packages advertised. If the infotainment feels awkward during a test drive, make sure that’s something you can live with before you commit.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base RDX comes well equipped with 19-inch alloy wheels, Jewel Eye LED headlights, LED fog and taillights, a power liftgate, a power panoramic moonroof, leather upholstery, heated 12-way power front seats, dual-zone climate control, remote keyless entry with push-button start, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel. The Technology Package adds perforated Milano premium leather, GPS-linked climate control, voice recognition, navigation with real-time traffic updates, an upgraded ELS premium audio system, and additional driver-assistance features. The A-Spec Package adds dark 20-inch wheels, gloss-black exterior accents, unique bumper designs, ventilated front seats, red ambient lighting, brushed aluminum pedals and interior accents, and an upgraded ELS Studio 3D audio system. The Advance Package adds 16-way front seats with power side bolsters, heated rear seats, a heated steering wheel, a head-up display, a 360-degree surround-view camera, and a reversing camera washer.
• Powertrain: The RDX uses a turbocharged 2.0-liter inline 4-cylinder engine with 272 horsepower and 280 pound-feet of torque, paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission. Front-wheel drive is standard, and all-wheel drive is available through SH-AWD, which can send torque rearward and split it side to side for added traction and sporty handling. Fuel economy is listed at 22 mpg city and 28 highway for the front-wheel-drive version, or 21/27 for AWD.
• Safety package: AcuraWatch includes forward-collision warning, forward-collision avoidance, lane-departure warning, road-departure warning, and lane-keeping assist. The Technology Package adds front and rear parking sensors plus blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert. The Advance Package adds a head-up warning system.
• Infotainment: The RDX uses a 10.2-inch HD monitor with Acura’s True Touchpad infotainment system. It includes Bluetooth, HD Radio, two front USB ports, and Apple CarPlay, but no Android Auto. The system is standard across trims and is described as having a steep learning curve.
• Fuel efficiency: The front-wheel-drive model returns 22 mpg city, 28 highway, and 24 combined. The AWD version returns 21 mpg city, 27 highway, and 23 combined.

Which 2019 Acura RDX trim should I buy?

The 2019 Acura RDX is offered in 4 trim levels: RDX, Technology Package, A-Spec Package, Advance Package.

Here's the short version:

• RDX: This is the value play if you want the core redesign and a long list of standard equipment without paying for extras. You still get the 10.2-inch display, AcuraWatch, leather upholstery, heated power front seats, a panoramic moonroof, and the full turbocharged powertrain. It makes the most sense if you want the best entry price and can live without the upgraded audio, navigation, and extra driver-assistance features.
• Technology Package: This is the best-value upgrade for many shoppers because it adds navigation, real-time traffic updates, a better audio system, more driver-assistance tech, and upgraded leather. If you want the most useful comfort-and-tech gains without jumping into the more style-focused trims, this is the one to target.
• A-Spec Package: Choose this if you care most about appearance and a sportier cabin presentation. It adds 20-inch wheels, gloss-black accents, unique bumpers, ventilated front seats, and the upgraded ELS Studio 3D audio system. It suits you best if style and sound matter more than pure value.
• Advance Package: This is the most luxurious choice, with 16-way front seats, heated rear seats, a heated steering wheel, a head-up display, and a surround-view camera. It’s the trim to buy if you want the most comfort and convenience features in one package.

The Technology Package is the best-value trim for most used buyers, while the Advance Package is the most complete if you want maximum comfort and convenience.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2019 Acura RDX?

The market looks moderate and selective, so you can shop with some leverage if you compare listings carefully.

• Deal availability: 37.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,327 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.91% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 70.5% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $22,194, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2019 Acura RDX's resale value?

The current average of $22,194 sits slightly below last year's $23,588.

That softer pricing suggests the model has already absorbed some depreciation, which can help future resale stability if you buy at the right price. For a future seller, that means your biggest advantage is entering ownership at a lower used-market baseline rather than expecting strong appreciation. The RDX’s broad appeal and premium positioning should help keep demand steady, especially if you choose a well-equipped trim and maintain the vehicle carefully.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.4/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2019 Acura RDX safe?

The 2019 Acura RDX earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

It comes standard with a reversing camera, tire pressure monitoring system, traction control, and a full array of front and side impact airbags. AcuraWatch is standard and includes forward-collision warning, forward-collision avoidance, lane-departure warning, road-departure warning, and lane-keeping assist. The Technology Package adds front and rear parking sensors plus blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, while the Advance Package adds a head-up warning system.

Should I buy a 2019 Acura RDX or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2019 if:

• 37.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 70.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.91% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.4/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• The 2019 brings a complete redesign with a spacious, feature-rich cabin and a powerful turbocharged engine.

Consider the 2020 if:

• At $24,100, the 2020 costs more than the current year's $22,194 average.
• It keeps the same basic formula while emphasizing strong value, space, and safety tech.

The bottom line: If you want the better bargain, the 2019 is the smarter buy because it combines a lower average price with strong owner satisfaction and a redesigned package. If you’re willing to spend more for a newer model year, the 2020 is the secondary path to consider, especially if you want to stay close to the same formula with a slightly newer used example.

How does the 2019 Acura RDX compare to the 2019 Honda CR-V?

Our experts score the 2019 Acura RDX 7.8/10 and the 2019 Honda CR-V 8/10. The RDX is the more powerful and more premium-feeling choice, with a stronger engine, a richer cabin, and more luxury content. The CR-V is the more affordable and efficient option, with lower starting MSRP, better fuel economy, and a larger pool of listings to shop from. If you want upscale features and performance, the RDX makes sense; if you want value and efficiency, the CR-V is the easier buy.
