How much does the 2018 Toyota Prius cost?

Prices have held steady compared to this time last year, signaling a stable and predictable market for this model year.

There are 458 listings available, which gives you a moderate amount of inventory to compare before you buy.

Is the 2018 Toyota Prius a good car?

Yes — the 2018 Toyota Prius earns a 4.5/5 user rating, and its appeal is straightforward if you want a practical hybrid with strong efficiency and everyday usefulness. The cabin brings better materials, newer tech, and comfortable front seats, while the hatchback layout adds real utility for daily errands and cargo needs. It also offers all-wheel drive on some examples, which can broaden its usefulness in poor weather. 31.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals, so there is still room to shop carefully.

Is the 2018 Toyota Prius reliable?

Owners rate it 4.5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2018 Toyota Prius is described as a model built around reliability, and its reputation is reinforced by the practical hybrid setup and the focus on durability in the overview. You also get a car that was engineered with a stiffer body structure and upgraded suspension, which supports the sense that Toyota was refining the formula rather than reinventing it. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that hybrid components can raise repair costs if they need attention.

What should I look for when buying a used 2018 Toyota Prius?

At 59.8% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should run a vehicle history report before you commit, then prioritize any signs of prior collision repair or inconsistent maintenance records. A pre-purchase inspection should focus on overall condition, especially the hybrid system, brakes, tires, and signs of wear that could affect ownership costs. Because repair costs can rise with hybrid components, condition matters as much as mileage.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2018 Toyota Prius?

This is a moderate market, so you can be selective without expecting a deep buyer’s market.

• Deal availability: 31.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 458 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 59.8% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $16,153, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2018 Toyota Prius's resale value?

The current average of $17,695 sits slightly above last year's $17,671.

That small increase suggests the market has stayed stable, which is helpful if you plan to sell later. A steady price pattern can support resale confidence because buyers are not seeing sharp depreciation pressure in the near term. The Prius also benefits from its reputation for efficiency and practicality, which helps keep it relevant in the used market.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2018 Toyota Prius or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2018 if:

• 31.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 59.8% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2019 if:

• At $19,758, the 2019 costs more than the current year's $17,695 average.
• It adds a revised trim strategy and an electric all-wheel-drive option.

The bottom line: If you want the better value today, the 2018 is the stronger starting point because pricing is steadier and the average cost is lower. If you are willing to pay more for a newer-year update and the added all-wheel-drive option, the 2019 is the better secondary path. For price-sensitive buyers, the 2018 makes the most sense; for shoppers prioritizing the newer-year changes, move up to the 2019.
