Is the 2018 Toyota 4Runner a good car?

Yes — the 4.54/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction. Drivers consistently praise its off-road capability and reliability, and many also like its style and durability. The 4Runner’s body-on-frame setup and off-road-first character make it a fit if you want a rugged SUV rather than a car-based crossover. With 35.6% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have a meaningful number of opportunities to shop selectively.

Is the 2018 Toyota 4Runner reliable?

Owners rate it 4.54/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

User feedback highlights reliability, durability, and a trouble-free ownership experience, which is exactly what many used-SUV shoppers want from a long-term vehicle. The recurring praise for rugged construction and lasting value reinforces that reputation. For used buyers, that usually means lower anxiety about ownership, though condition still matters because age and prior use can affect how well a truck-based SUV holds up.

What should I look for when buying a used 2018 Toyota 4Runner?

At 61.3% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should run a vehicle history report before you commit, especially if the price looks unusually attractive. A pre-purchase inspection should focus on body condition, signs of prior repair, and how well the vehicle has been maintained. Because this model is often bought for rugged use, pay close attention to wear that could reflect off-road driving or heavy-duty ownership.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2018 Toyota 4Runner?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently but should move quickly on standout listings.

• Deal availability: 35.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.

If you find a listing below $28,205, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2018 Toyota 4Runner's resale value?

The current average of $29,008 sits slightly below last year's $29,877.

That softer pricing can help you buy at a more favorable entry point, but it also suggests resale values may not be climbing right now. If you plan to sell later, the current market gives you a decent baseline, especially if you buy well and keep the vehicle in strong condition. Demand should remain supported by the model’s reputation for durability and off-road capability.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.54/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2018 Toyota 4Runner or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2018 if:

• 35.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 61.3% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 2.91% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.54/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2019 if:

• At $31,780, the 2019 costs more than the current year's $29,008 average.
• It adds a more modern-feeling take on the same rugged, off-road-first formula.

The bottom line: If you want the better value today, the 2018 is the stronger starting point because it combines a lower average price with solid owner satisfaction. If you’re willing to pay more for a newer model year, the 2019 is the better secondary path for buyers who want to compare pricing against a slightly updated alternative.
