Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2018 Tesla Model 3 4.88 / 5 stars.

Why it stands out
The 2018 Tesla Model 3 stands out as a compact electric sedan that made advanced EV technology feel more accessible without giving up the brand’s signature quick acceleration and futuristic character. Owners consistently praise its performance, technology, and fun driving experience, and the car’s appeal is rooted in the same traits that helped Tesla reshape expectations for electric vehicles: strong range, a minimalist cabin, and a driving feel that emphasizes speed and responsiveness.
What makes the 2018 Model 3 especially distinctive is how much it packs into a relatively simple package. The user review summary points to enhanced Autopilot as a highlight, while also noting that some owners dislike the software subscriptions and find the entertainment system less intuitive, especially because of the lack of traditional radio options and occasional software glitches. That mix of strengths and frustrations helps define the 2018 Model 3: it is appealing to buyers who want cutting-edge EV performance and technology, but it can also ask them to adapt to Tesla’s software-first approach.

I bought my car used; 2018 to be exact and for being 7 years old, it feels like a new car. It handles smoothly, and I feel like I’m floating. I’ve had it less than a week but am totally in love with it.

I like the interior, performance and technology. My first electric car so it is a little bit of adjustment with charging at home and surcharges. You do get range anxiety. The range isn't what I expected and hard to find chargers in some areas that you think should have some. Have to reroute longer routes to make it work. But car is amazing to drive. Not sure how getting things fixed will go as Tesas a couple hours from me. Seeting up the appointments is a little bit inconvenient.

How much does the 2018 Tesla Model 3 cost?
| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| Current Average Price | $19,691 |
| Year-Round Low | $17,891 |
| Year-Round High | $20,149 |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $19,626 |
| Change vs. Last Year | +0.33% |
Prices have held steady compared to this time last year, signaling a stable and predictable market for this model year.
There are 1,329 listings available, which gives you a solid amount of inventory to compare before you buy.
Is the 2018 Tesla Model 3 a good car?
Yes — the 2018 Tesla Model 3 earns a 4.88/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction. Owners consistently praise its exciting performance, impressive technology, and fun driving experience, and many reviewers specifically highlight the acceleration and enhanced Autopilot. It also fits well if you want a compact electric sedan with a minimalist cabin and a tech-forward feel rather than a traditional layout. With 30.9% of listings marked as good or great deals, you still have room to shop selectively.
Is the 2018 Tesla Model 3 reliable?
Owners rate it 4.88/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
The owner feedback also emphasizes that the car feels dependable in daily use, with many drivers describing it as a trouble-free and enjoyable long-term companion. That said, the same review summary points to software subscriptions, occasional glitches, and a less intuitive entertainment system, so the ownership experience can depend on how comfortable you are with Tesla’s software-first approach. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about traditional mechanical complexity and more about making sure the software, features, and overall condition still match what you expect.
What should I look for when buying a used 2018 Tesla Model 3?
Accident-free inventory is solid at 76.5% — always verify the vehicle history report.
You should start with a history report and confirm the car’s accident record, title status, and service history before you commit. Then prioritize a thorough inspection of the software, touchscreen functions, charging behavior, and any features you plan to use regularly. Because this model leans heavily on technology, condition matters not just mechanically but also in how well the car’s systems and interfaces still work day to day.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2018 Tesla Model 3?
This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently and still find worthwhile listings.
- Deal availability: 30.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 1,329 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 76.5% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $17,891, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2018 Tesla Model 3's resale value?
The current average of $19,691 sits slightly above last year's $19,626.
That small increase suggests the market has stayed relatively stable, which is helpful if you plan to sell later. A steady price trend can support resale confidence because it shows buyers are still willing to pay near current market levels. The model’s strong owner satisfaction also helps keep demand healthy among shoppers looking for a used EV with a strong reputation.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.88/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Should I buy a 2018 Tesla Model 3 or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2018 if:
- 30.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Accident-free inventory is solid at 76.5% — always verify the vehicle history report.
- Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.88/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
The bottom line: The 2018 Model 3 is a strong choice if you want a used Tesla with proven owner satisfaction, stable pricing, and a healthy supply of listings. If you’re more price-sensitive, you may want to compare nearby model years and focus on whichever one gives you the best combination of condition, history, and deal quality.
