Is the 2018 Nissan Maxima a good car?

Yes — the 4.8/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction. Drivers repeatedly praise its performance, power, handling, and safety features, and many also like the value it offers for the money. The Maxima’s sporty personality and comfortable, well-equipped setup make sense if you want a sedan that feels more engaging than a typical family car while still staying easy to live with. With 26.9% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2018 Nissan Maxima reliable?

Owners rate it 4.8/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

User feedback also describes it as reliable and safe, with several owners calling it a dependable family car. That kind of praise matters most when you’re shopping used, because it suggests the car can hold up well over time if it has been maintained properly. For you, the main long-term ownership risk is buying a neglected example, so condition and service history should carry real weight.

What should I look for when buying a used 2018 Nissan Maxima?

At 48.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and confirm whether any reported damage was minor or structural. Then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially for signs of uneven wear, poor repairs, or neglected maintenance. Focus on overall condition first, since a clean-looking Maxima can still hide issues that affect long-term ownership costs.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2018 Nissan Maxima?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find value.

• Deal availability: 26.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 709 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.02% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 48.1% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $13,895, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2018 Nissan Maxima's resale value?

The current average of $13,895 sits slightly below last year's $15,443.

That price movement suggests the market has cooled, which can help you buy at a better entry point but may also limit near-term appreciation if you plan to resell soon. If you keep the car in strong condition and avoid accident history, you’ll be in a better position to preserve value. Well-kept examples should remain easier to move than neglected ones because shoppers still respond to the Maxima’s mix of performance and comfort.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.8/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2018 Nissan Maxima or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2018 if:

• 26.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 48.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.02% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.8/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2019 if:

• At $17,138, the 2019 costs more than the current year's $13,895 average.
• It brings a mild refresh with updated style, technology, and interior features.

The bottom line: If you want the better value, the 2018 is the stronger starting point because it combines a lower average price with solid owner satisfaction. If you’re willing to pay more for a newer feel and a mild update, the 2019 is the better secondary path.
