What should I look for when buying a used 2018 Nissan Altima?

At 50.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

Start with a vehicle history report so you can confirm accident records, title status, and ownership patterns before you go any further. Then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, with extra attention to the transmission, maintenance records, and signs of inconsistent care. You should also inspect cleanliness and wear closely, since condition can vary a lot across used examples.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2018 Nissan Altima?

This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently and still find worthwhile options.

• Deal availability: 27.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 2,030 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.20% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 50.5% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $10,597, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2018 Nissan Altima's resale value?

The current average of $10,915 sits slightly below last year's $11,513.

That softer pricing suggests the model has lost some value momentum, which can be a concern if you plan to sell in a few years. For you, that means buying well matters: the lower your entry price, the easier it is to protect your position later. A well-kept example with strong equipment and clean history should be easier to move than one with visible wear or questionable maintenance.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2018 Nissan Altima or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2018 if:

• 27.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 50.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.20% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2019 if:

• At $13,698, the 2019 costs more than the current year's $10,915 average.
• It brings a more upscale cabin and a more modern overall feel.

The bottom line: If you want the better value play, the 2018 is the stronger starting point because it combines lower pricing with solid owner satisfaction and plenty of listings to compare. If you’re willing to spend more for a newer-feeling cabin and a more polished overall package, the 2019 is the better upgrade path. For price-sensitive buyers, the 2018 makes the most sense; for shoppers prioritizing a more modern interior, consider moving up a year.
