How much does the 2018 Mercedes-Benz G-Class cost?

Prices are up 3.73% year-over-year — a sign of continued demand for this model year.

There are 336 listings available, which gives you a moderate amount of inventory to compare before you buy.

Is the 2018 Mercedes-Benz G-Class a good car?

The 2018 Mercedes-Benz G-Class stands out because it is the last model year of the original design before the completely redesigned version arrived for 2019. Its boxy, military-grade look remained intact, and it still carried the rugged character that made the G-Class famous.

It also benefits from a refreshed cabin with a new dashboard, an infotainment screen, internet connectivity, and added driver-assist features such as adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitoring, and collision avoidance systems. For you, that means this model fits best if you want the classic G-Wagen identity, strong presence, and off-road credibility in its most familiar form.

32.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals, so there is still some room to shop carefully.

Is the 2018 Mercedes-Benz G-Class reliable?

The 2018 Mercedes-Benz G-Class is presented as a long-running, heavily refreshed model with a rugged character and a familiar formula that had already proven durable over time. The overview also makes clear that it comes with familiar tradeoffs, including expensive ownership and maintenance.

For used buyers, that means long-term ownership risk is less about the basic concept and more about the cost of keeping a complex luxury SUV in top condition.

What should I look for when buying a used 2018 Mercedes-Benz G-Class?

At 70.8% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should run a vehicle history report on any promising listing and confirm whether prior damage was cosmetic or structural. A pre-purchase inspection should focus on body alignment, panel fit, electronics, and signs of hard use, since condition matters a lot on a vehicle like this. Pay close attention to maintenance records as well, because upkeep costs can be significant.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2018 Mercedes-Benz G-Class?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer's market, so you can shop with some leverage if you stay patient and compare listings carefully.

• Deal availability: 32.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 336 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices are up 3.73% year-over-year.
• Clean inventory: 70.8% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $80,552, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2018 Mercedes-Benz G-Class's resale value?

The current average of $86,725 sits slightly above last year's $83,607.

That upward move suggests the market has remained willing to pay for this model year. If you buy well and keep the vehicle in strong condition, you may have a better chance of preserving value than with a softer-priced luxury SUV. The key for future resale is staying ahead of maintenance and avoiding accident history.

Should I buy a 2018 Mercedes-Benz G-Class or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2018 if:

• 32.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 70.8% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices are up 3.73% year-over-year.

Consider the 2019 if:

• At $105,038, the 2019 costs more than the current year's $86,725 average.
• It brings a full redesign with a more upscale cabin and stronger modern relevance.

The bottom line: Choose the 2018 if you want the classic G-Class look and a lower entry price. Consider the 2019 if you want the redesigned version and are willing to pay more for the newer cabin and updated feel.
