How much does the 2018 Mercedes-Benz G-Class cost?

Prices are up 2.83% year-over-year — a sign of continued demand for this model year.

There are 355 listings available, which gives you a modest amount of inventory to compare before you buy.

Is the 2018 Mercedes-Benz G-Class a good car?

The 2018 Mercedes-Benz G-Class combines incredible off-road ability, military-grade style, and sublime luxury. For you, that means it fits especially well if you want a vehicle with serious capability and a highly recognizable presence rather than a conventional luxury SUV.

Its appeal is also tied to being the last version of the original design before the 2019 redesign, so you get the classic G-Wagen experience in a refined form. The tradeoff is that it is insanely expensive to buy and maintain, hard to find, and poor on fuel economy.

With 34.6% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have some room to shop selectively if you want the right example.

Is the 2018 Mercedes-Benz G-Class reliable?

The 2018 Mercedes-Benz G-Class is presented as a long-running design that had been refined over many years rather than reinvented, which can be reassuring if you want a proven formula. Its rugged character and established platform suggest a vehicle built around durability and consistency.

At the same time, the ownership picture is shaped by high running costs, so reliability for you is not just about whether it starts and drives well today. Long-term ownership risk is elevated if you are not prepared for expensive maintenance and repairs.

What should I look for when buying a used 2018 Mercedes-Benz G-Class?

At 71.3% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should run a full vehicle history report before you commit, then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection from a shop that knows luxury SUVs and off-road hardware. Focus on overall condition, signs of prior bodywork, and evidence of careful maintenance, since the cost of getting a neglected example wrong can be high.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2018 Mercedes-Benz G-Class?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer's market, so you can shop patiently and still find worthwhile options.

• Deal availability: 34.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 355 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices are up 2.83% year-over-year.
• Clean inventory: 71.3% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $80,542, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2018 Mercedes-Benz G-Class's resale value?

The current average of $86,773 sits slightly above last year's $84,387.

That upward move suggests the market has held up reasonably well for this model year. If you buy carefully and keep the vehicle in strong condition, you may be able to preserve value better than with many mainstream SUVs.

For a future seller, the key is condition and documentation. A well-kept example with clean history and strong presentation should be easier to position than one with visible wear or incomplete records.

Should I buy a 2018 Mercedes-Benz G-Class or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2018 if:

• 34.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 71.3% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices are up 2.83% year-over-year.

Consider the 2019 if:

• At $104,943, the 2019 costs more than the current year's $86,773 average.
• It brings an all-new redesign with a more modern luxury feel.

The bottom line: choose the 2018 if you want the classic G-Class look and a lower entry price, especially if you value the original design's character. If you are price-sensitive, the 2018 is the smarter path; if you want the newer redesign and can stretch your budget, the 2019 is the upgrade to consider.
