How much does the 2016 Mercedes-Benz G-Class cost?

Prices have softened 8.02% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 257 listings available, which gives you a meaningful pool to compare prices and equipment.

Is the 2016 Mercedes-Benz G-Class a good car?

Yes — 5/5 is a strong user rating for this model year, and the overview points to a vehicle that blends military-rooted toughness with unmistakable luxury and presence. Its boxy shape is part of the appeal, and its off-road ability is a major reason people want one, even if many owners are more interested in the style than in getting it dirty. It is also one of the most expensive SUVs to buy, maintain, and insure, so its appeal is as much about image and capability as it is about practicality. For you, that means it makes the most sense if you want a luxury SUV with real off-road credibility and a huge range of power and personality. 35.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2016 Mercedes-Benz G-Class reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The overview suggests a vehicle built around toughness, capability, and a strong identity, with the kind of off-road hardware and luxury features that help it stand apart. It also notes that the G-Class remains expensive to own, maintain, and insure, which matters when you think about long-term ownership. For used buyers, the main risk is not just age-related wear but the cost of addressing problems if they come up.

What should I look for when buying a used 2016 Mercedes-Benz G-Class?

At 61.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should run a vehicle history report before you commit, then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection from a shop that knows high-end SUVs. Focus on condition, maintenance records, and evidence of off-road use or cosmetic repair, since those factors can affect both ownership costs and resale appeal.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2016 Mercedes-Benz G-Class?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer's market, so you can shop patiently but still move quickly on the right listing.

• Deal availability: 35.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 257 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.02% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 61.5% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $60,217, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2016 Mercedes-Benz G-Class's resale value?

The current average of $60,798 sits slightly below last year's $66,098.

That price movement suggests the market has cooled enough to give you a better entry point than a year ago, which can help if you plan to own the vehicle for a while before selling. For a future seller, the current softness means you should expect buyers to be price-aware, especially if comparable listings are plentiful. Well-kept examples with strong documentation should still stand out, but condition and history will matter a lot when it is time to resell.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2016 Mercedes-Benz G-Class or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 35.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 61.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.02% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: If you want the strongest mix of current pricing, inventory, and owner satisfaction, the 2016 is a solid primary choice. If you are especially price-sensitive, you may want to compare nearby years and focus on the cleanest, best-documented example rather than chasing the lowest sticker price.
