How much does the 2018 Mercedes-Benz E-Class cost?

Prices have softened 9.65% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,301 listings available, which gives you a solid pool of options to compare.

Is the 2018 Mercedes-Benz E-Class a good car?

Yes — the 2018 Mercedes-Benz E-Class earns a 4.76/5 user rating and an 8/10 expert rating. The model scores 10/10 across Technology and Safety.

Owners consistently praise the smooth ride, luxurious interior, powerful performance, advanced features, and elegant styling. That lines up with the overview: you’re shopping this car for refinement, comfort, and a premium experience more than for bargain pricing.

With 35.8% of listings marked as good or great deals, you still have room to shop selectively while targeting the best-equipped examples.

Is the 2018 Mercedes-Benz E-Class reliable?

Owners rate it 4.76/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

Owner feedback points to a car that feels dependable in daily use, with praise centered on the smooth ride, luxurious interior, and powerful performance. The expert drive summary also emphasizes how calm, noise-proof, and refined the car feels on the road, which supports the impression of a car built to be lived with over time.

The main long-term ownership risk for used buyers is cost exposure after the warranty period, especially if prior maintenance has been deferred.

What should I look for when buying a used 2018 Mercedes-Benz E-Class?

At 60% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially on higher-mileage or heavily optioned cars. Focus on signs of wear, repair quality, and whether the car’s luxury and technology features still operate as intended. Because this model can be expensive to maintain, condition matters as much as mileage.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The cabin is defined by a VIP-lounge feel with inlaid wood, large high-resolution screens, 64-color ambient lighting, and upscale materials, while the coupe adds pillarless styling and powered rear half windows. The Luxury Line is limited to the sedan and wagon and swaps in a classic thin-lined grille and standing hood ornament, so base versions may miss some of the richer visual character.
• Powertrain: The E300 uses a 2.0-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder with 241 horsepower and 273 pound-feet of torque, while the E400 uses a 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 with 329 horsepower and 354 pound-feet of torque. The V6 is the stronger choice, especially because the 4-cylinder is described as underpowered in this heavier car.
• Safety package: Mercedes includes Car-to-X Communication, Pre-Safe Sound, automatic braking that can detect crossing traffic and people, steering and brake intervention for crosswinds, and adaptive cruise control that can react to changing speed limits. Many of these features are optional, and most of the safety and semi-autonomous equipment is tied to the expensive Premium 3 package.
• Infotainment: The E-Class offers Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, a Wi-Fi hotspot, a built-in web browser, voice inputs, a head-up display, and configurable digital instrumentation. The system is deeply featured, but some of the most desirable equipment is bundled into the Premium 3 package.
• Fuel efficiency: The E300 is EPA-rated at 22 mpg city and 30 highway in rear-wheel-drive form, or 21/29 with 4Matic. The E400 coupe is rated at 20/26, and the E400 4Matic wagon at 19/25.

Which 2018 Mercedes-Benz E-Class trim should I buy?

The 2018 Mercedes-Benz E-Class is offered in 4 trim levels: E300 sedan, E300 4Matic sedan, E400 coupe, E400 4Matic wagon.

Here's the short version:

• E300 sedan: This is the entry point and the most affordable way into the E-Class experience. It gives you the core luxury feel, but the 2.0-liter turbo four is described as underpowered for the car’s size, so it makes the most sense if you value price and comfort over stronger acceleration.
• E300 4Matic sedan: This is the better-value choice if you want the same basic sedan formula with all-wheel drive. It adds traction confidence and remains one of the most popular trims, making it a smart pick for buyers who want a well-rounded daily driver.
• E400 coupe: This is the best choice if you want the strongest standard powertrain and the most distinctive body style. The 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 is the recommended engine, and the coupe’s pillarless design and sportier look make it the most style-forward option.
• E400 4Matic wagon: This is the most practical body style in the lineup and still gets the stronger V6. It suits you best if you want E-Class luxury with extra cargo flexibility and all-weather traction.

Most of the safety and semi-autonomous features are locked into the expensive Premium 3 package, so check option content carefully before you buy.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2018 Mercedes-Benz E-Class?

This is a moderate buyer’s market, so you can shop selectively without expecting deep distress pricing.

• Deal availability: 35.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,301 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.65% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 60.0% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $22,857, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2018 Mercedes-Benz E-Class's resale value?

The current average of $22,857 sits slightly below last year's $25,297.

That decline suggests the market has already absorbed some of the model’s depreciation, which can help future sellers if they buy at the right price. Because the current average is near the low end of the year-round range, your upside depends heavily on condition, mileage, and equipment. Well-kept examples with desirable options should remain easier to move than neglected cars, especially in a luxury segment where buyers are selective.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.76/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2018 Mercedes-Benz E-Class safe?

The 2018 Mercedes-Benz E-Class earns five-star ratings overall, in frontal and side crash tests, and for rollover vulnerability from NHTSA, and it is a Top Safety Pick+ from IIHS.

It earns a 10/10 safety score from our experts.

Mercedes includes Car-to-X Communication, Pre-Safe Sound, automatic braking that can detect crossing traffic and people, steering and brake intervention for crosswinds, and adaptive cruise control that can react to changing speed limits. Some safety equipment is optional, and the most advanced semi-autonomous features are tied to the Premium 3 package.

Should I buy a 2018 Mercedes-Benz E-Class or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2018 if:

• 35.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 60% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.65% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.76/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• You want a year that combines a refined ride, advanced tech, and top-tier safety in a highly polished luxury package.

The bottom line: The 2018 E-Class is the right pick if you want the strongest blend of comfort, technology, and prestige in this price band. If you’re more price-sensitive, shop carefully for the best-equipped, clean-history example rather than stretching for a newer year at a much higher price.
