Is the 2018 Land Rover Discovery a good car?

Generally — the 4.4/5 user rating points to a strong ownership experience for many shoppers. Owners consistently praise its spaciousness, comfort, and luxurious materials, and the overview shows why it appeals if you want a three-row midsize SUV that blends upscale feel with real off-road ability. That said, the same owner feedback also points to a few recurring pain points, including infotainment slowdowns and some reliability concerns, so it fits best if you value capability and comfort enough to accept a more selective ownership experience. With 34.5% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have room to shop carefully.

Is the 2018 Land Rover Discovery reliable?

Owners rate it 4.4/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

Owner feedback highlights dependable day-to-day comfort and a vehicle that many drivers feel good about living with over time, especially when they want a luxury SUV with serious capability. At the same time, the review summary points to trouble with the sunroof and radio, which means used buyers should pay close attention to maintenance history and how well the vehicle has been cared for. For long-term ownership, your risk is less about the concept and more about finding one that has been maintained consistently.

What should I look for when buying a used 2018 Land Rover Discovery?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 75.5% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should start with a history report to confirm accident status, title status, and service records before you get too far into a deal. Then prioritize a thorough inspection of the sunroof, infotainment system, and overall cabin condition, since those are the kinds of issues owners have flagged. Because this model is meant to do more than just commute, you should also make sure the vehicle feels tight and well maintained in both city driving and on rougher roads.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2018 Land Rover Discovery?

This is a selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with leverage if you focus on value and condition.

• Deal availability: 34.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 359 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 12.14% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 75.5% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $16,049, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2018 Land Rover Discovery's resale value?

The current average of $16,049 sits slightly below last year's $18,267.

That drop suggests the market has moved in buyers’ favor, which can make resale planning a little more conservative if you buy today. If you own one for a few years, your future value will depend heavily on condition, mileage, and maintenance history, especially because shoppers in this segment tend to be cautious about upkeep. A well-kept example should still attract interest from buyers who want luxury, space, and capability in one package.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.4/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2018 Land Rover Discovery or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2018 if:

• 34.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 75.5% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 12.14% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.4/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2017 if:

• At $13,899, the 2017 costs less than the current year's $16,049 average.
• It offers a strong mix of luxury, capability, and practicality.

The bottom line: If you want the better current-market balance of price, inventory, and buyer confidence, the 2018 is the cleaner starting point. If your priority is spending less upfront, the 2017 is the better value play, especially if you find one with strong maintenance records and the features you want.
