Is the 2018 Land Rover Discovery a good car?

Generally — the 4.43/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction. Owners consistently praise its spaciousness, comfort, and luxurious materials, and the model’s three-row layout makes it appealing if you want a midsize SUV that feels more upscale than many rivals. The overview also highlights its blend of comfort and genuine off-road ability, so it fits you well if you want one vehicle that can handle family duty and tougher terrain. Is the 2018 Land Rover Discovery reliable?

Owners rate it 4.43/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback also points to dependable day-to-day comfort and a vehicle that many drivers feel good about keeping for the long haul. At the same time, the review summary mentions trouble with the sunroof and radio, along with concerns about long-term maintenance, so you should expect some ownership risk if you buy used. For you, that means a careful pre-purchase inspection matters more than usual, especially if you plan to keep the SUV for years.

What should I look for when buying a used 2018 Land Rover Discovery?

At 72.6% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and confirm whether any prior damage was repaired properly. Put inspection priority on bodywork, panel alignment, and signs of past collision repair, then move to mechanical and electrical checks. Because owner feedback mentions sunroof and radio issues, it also makes sense to test every convenience feature carefully during your inspection.

What is the 2018 Land Rover Discovery's resale value?

The current average of $16,078 sits slightly below last year's $18,243.

That price movement suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy at a more favorable entry point. For a future seller, it also means you should expect resale value to depend heavily on condition, mileage, and service history rather than just the badge alone. Well-kept examples should hold up better than neglected ones because buyers in this segment tend to reward clean history and strong presentation.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.43/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2018 Land Rover Discovery or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2018 if:

• 39.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 72.6% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.87% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.43/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2017 if:

• At $14,193, the 2017 costs less than the current year's $16,078 average.
• It offers a rare mix of luxury, capability, and practicality.

The bottom line: You should lean toward the 2018 if you want the newer model-year pricing context and a strong mix of comfort, capability, and owner satisfaction. If your priority is saving money upfront, the 2017 is the better secondary path because it undercuts the current year's average while still delivering much of the Discovery's core appeal.
