Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2018 Kia Stinger 4.87 / 5 stars and CarGurus experts gave it an 8.67 / 10.

Why it stands out
The 2018 Kia Stinger stands out because it marks Kia’s move into an upscale performance car. The debuting Stinger is described as an all-new four-door sports car that put the automotive world on notice, and it was presented as evidence that Kia could do much more than economical daily drivers. That makes it distinctive not just as a new model, but as a statement about the brand itself.
What makes the 2018 Kia Stinger appealing is the way it blends performance, luxury, and technology. Owner feedback in the provided data reinforces that impression, with praise for the powerful engine, attractive interior, and sporty feel. At the same time, some owners note drawbacks such as gas mileage and the lack of certain features like remote start, so the Stinger’s appeal is strongest for buyers who value style and driving character as much as everyday practicality.

Love love my car! The only thing about the car that I dislike is that the 2018 year makes it so I have to plug in my phone to turn it into Apple CarPlay. It doesn’t automatically connect without the cord.

The stinger is great sports car it spunky and very, very responsive even without being in sport mode. If your decision is to modify your engine for more power your gonna need to upgrade your car from brakes and rotors to intake, spark plugs and etc, that’s how Kia kept the price point so low they gave you a basic starter kit. Also you can take your time getting mods it’s already pretty fast stock !

Pros: -Quality interior (Leather seats, heated seats, leather and dual stitching throughout, ambient lighting) -Good technology (touchscreen with Kias UI, Android Auto, Apple Car Play, or Bluetooth) -Great driving and safety features (ACC, LKA, EBS, etc.) Looks stylish -Sporty (Good HP and torque numbers) Cons: -Wired Android Auto and Apple Car Play. Wireless would be preferred. -Trunk rattle. Can be easily fixed with a bigger washer and YouTube tutorial.

What should I look for when buying a used 2018 Kia Stinger?
At 58.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re considering a higher-mileage or lower-priced example. Pay close attention to body condition, signs of prior repair, and whether the car’s equipment and driving feel match the trim level being advertised. Because this model mixes performance and luxury features, condition matters as much as mileage.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The base 2.0L trim already includes Bluetooth hands-free connectivity, a reversing camera, leather seating, 18-inch alloy wheels, LED daytime head- and taillights, heated power side mirrors with integrated turn signals, dual exhaust, a 7-inch touchscreen, a 12-way power adjustable driver’s seat, heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, and dual-zone automatic temperature control. The Premium trim adds a power moonroof, a power tilt/telescoping steering wheel, an auto-dimming rear-view mirror, a larger instrument display, an electronic parking brake, an 8-inch touchscreen, and a 15-speaker Harman Kardon premium sound system. The GT adds 19-inch alloy wheels, an upgraded grille, additional side accents, a rear diffuser, aluminum center-console accents, door-sill plates, pedals, a GT headrest inscription, and a performance-oriented flat-bottom steering wheel. The GT1 adds many Premium features plus electronically controlled suspension and extra performance gauges. The GT2 adds the most equipment, including a limited-slip differential, dynamic headlight assist, a power smart trunk, upgraded Nappa leather, ventilated front seats, and more driver-assistance systems.
- Powertrain: The 2.0-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder makes 255 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque. The 3.3-liter twin-turbocharged V6 makes 365 horsepower and 376 pound-feet of torque. Both pair with an 8-speed automatic transmission, and rear-wheel drive is standard with available all-wheel drive. The GT, GT1, and GT2 also add an available continuously damping suspension.
- Safety package: Standard safety equipment includes front and side-impact airbags, front and rear crumple zones, child-seat anchoring, electronic stability control, a tire pressure monitoring system, a reversing camera with dynamic guidelines, and front and rear parking sensors. The GT2 adds blind-spot detection, forward-collision warning, lane-departure warning, driver-attention warning, automatic high beams, adaptive cruise control, and lane-keeping assist; those features are optional on the other trims.
- Infotainment: The base 2.0L and GT trims use a 7-inch UVO infotainment system. The Premium, GT1, and GT2 use an 8-inch UVO system. All trims come with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and the larger screen includes navigation. The GT2 also adds a head-up display.
- Fuel efficiency: The 2.0-liter turbo with AWD is rated at 21 city, 29 highway, and 24 combined mpg, while the RWD version gets 22 city, 29 highway, and 25 combined mpg. The twin-turbo V6 with AWD is rated at 19 city, 25 highway, and 21 combined mpg, and the RWD version is the same.
Which 2018 Kia Stinger trim should I buy?
The 2018 Kia Stinger is offered in 5 trim levels: 2.0L, Premium, GT, GT1, and GT2.
Here's the short version:
- 2.0L: This is the entry point, but it still gives you a strong equipment list with leather seating, heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, a reversing camera, and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. It makes sense if you want the Stinger’s style and core features at the lowest price.
- Premium: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds the larger 8-inch touchscreen, navigation, a power moonroof, the upgraded Harman Kardon audio system, and a more upscale cabin feel without jumping all the way to the performance-focused trims.
- GT: Choose this if you want the stronger visual and driving character, including the V6-oriented personality, 19-inch wheels, the upgraded grille, the rear diffuser, and the flat-bottom steering wheel.
- GT1: This trim is for you if you want more of the GT’s performance flavor plus electronically controlled suspension and extra performance gauges, along with several Premium features.
- GT2: This is the most fully equipped version, with the limited-slip differential, ventilated front seats, Nappa leather, the power smart trunk, and the most complete driver-assistance package.
The GT2 is the only trim with standard blind-spot detection, forward-collision warning, lane-departure warning, driver-attention warning, automatic high beams, adaptive cruise control, and lane-keeping assist.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2018 Kia Stinger?
This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.
- Deal availability: 29.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 294 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 4.29% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 58.5% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $18,903, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2018 Kia Stinger's resale value?
The current average of $19,569 sits slightly below last year's $20,447.
That decline suggests the market has become a bit more favorable for buyers, but it also means future sellers may need to price competitively to stand out. If you buy well now, you may have less downside risk than someone who paid closer to the higher average from a year ago. The current range also suggests there is still enough demand to support a healthy resale path if the car is kept in good condition.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.87/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2018 Kia Stinger safe?
The 2018 Kia Stinger earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.
Standard safety features include a full array of front and side-impact airbags, front and rear crumple zones, child-seat anchoring, electronic stability control, a tire pressure monitoring system, a reversing camera with dynamic guidelines, and front and rear parking sensors. The GT2 adds blind-spot detection, forward-collision warning, lane-departure warning, driver-attention warning, automatic high beams, adaptive cruise control, and lane-keeping assist, while those features are optional on the other trims.
The car’s poor rearward visibility is a notable caveat, so you should pay close attention to how much driver-assistance equipment a specific listing includes.
Should I buy a 2018 Kia Stinger or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2018 if:
- 29.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 58.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 4.29% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.87/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
- It stands out as the debut year for Kia’s upscale performance car, with strong praise for its powerful engine, attractive interior, and sporty feel.
The bottom line: If you want the original Stinger experience and you value the combination of performance, luxury, and technology, the 2018 is a compelling choice. If you’re mainly shopping on price, you can still find attractive deals, but you should be especially selective about condition and accident history before you commit.
