Is the 2018 Kia Stinger a good car?

Yes — the 2018 Kia Stinger earns a 4.9/5 user rating and an 8.7/10 expert rating. The model scores 10/10 across Look and feel and Performance.

Owners consistently praise the powerful engine, attractive interior, and sporty feel, and the overview frames it as an all-new four-door sports car that blends performance, luxury, and technology. What should I look for when buying a used 2018 Kia Stinger?

At 55.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a thorough pre-purchase inspection, especially if the car has had bodywork or multiple owners. Pay close attention to panel alignment, tire wear, brake condition, and any signs that the car was driven hard or repaired after a collision. Because this model emphasizes performance and technology, you’ll also want to confirm that all electronics, cameras, and driver-assistance features work as expected.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base 2.0L trim comes with Bluetooth hands-free connectivity, a reversing camera, leather seating, 18-inch alloy wheels, LED daytime head- and taillights, heated power side mirrors with integrated turn signals, dual exhaust, a 7-inch touchscreen, a 12-way power adjustable driver’s seat, heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, and dual-zone automatic temperature control. The Premium trim adds a power moonroof, power tilt/telescoping steering wheel, auto-dimming rear-view mirror, a larger 7-inch TFT screen in the instrument panel, an electronic parking brake, an 8-inch touchscreen, and a 15-speaker Harman Kardon premium sound system. The GT trim adds 19-inch alloy wheels, an upgraded grille, additional side accents, a rear diffuser, aluminum center-console accents, door-sill plates, pedals, a GT headrest inscription, and a performance-oriented flat-bottom steering wheel. The GT1 adds many Premium features, plus an electronically controlled suspension, auto-dimming side mirrors, and additional gauges. The GT2 adds a limited-slip differential, low-beam dynamic headlight assist, power smart trunk, upgraded Nappa leather seat trim, a 16-way power driver’s seat, a 12-way power front passenger seat, ventilated front seats, and more driver-assistance systems.

• Powertrain: The base engine is a 2.0-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder with 255 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque. The GT uses a 3.3-liter twin-turbocharged V6 with 365 horsepower and 376 pound-feet of torque. Both engines use an 8-speed automatic transmission, and you can find rear-wheel drive or available all-wheel drive.

• Safety package: Standard safety equipment includes a full array of front and side-impact airbags, front and rear crumple zones, a child-seat anchoring system, electronic stability control, a tire pressure monitoring system, a reversing camera with dynamic guidelines, and front and rear parking sensors. The GT2 adds blind-spot detection, forward-collision warning, lane-departure warning, driver-attention warning, automatic high beams, adaptive cruise control, and lane-keeping assist; those features are optional on the other trims.

• Infotainment: The base 2.0L and GT trims get a 7-inch UVO infotainment system. The Premium, GT1, and GT2 trims get the larger 8-inch UVO system, and the larger screen comes with navigation. All trims include Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and the GT2 adds a head-up display.

Which 2018 Kia Stinger trim should I buy?

The 2018 Kia Stinger is offered in 5 trim levels: 2.0L, Premium, GT, GT1, and GT2.

Here's the short version:

• 2.0L: This is the entry point, but it still gives you a strong equipment list with leather seating, heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, a reversing camera, and the 7-inch UVO system. It makes sense if you want the Stinger’s style and core driving character at the lowest price.

• Premium: This is the best-value trim if you want the biggest jump in comfort and tech without moving too far up the price ladder. You get the 8-inch touchscreen, navigation, Harman Kardon audio, a power moonroof, and a more upscale instrument display, which makes it the sweet spot for many shoppers.

• GT: This trim is the one to choose if you care most about the sportier look and feel. It adds 19-inch wheels, a more aggressive exterior treatment, a flat-bottom steering wheel, and GT-specific cabin details, so it suits you if appearance and driving character matter more than extra convenience features.

• GT1: This is the step up if you want more chassis and driver-focused hardware. The electronically controlled suspension and extra gauges make it the more enthusiast-oriented choice, especially if you want a more performance-flavored setup without going all the way to the top trim.

• GT2: This is the most fully equipped version, with the limited-slip differential, ventilated front seats, upgraded leather, the most advanced driver-assistance features, and the head-up display. It’s the right pick if you want the most complete Stinger experience and are willing to pay for it.

The GT2 is the only trim with the full standard driver-assistance suite, while the other trims leave several of those features optional.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2018 Kia Stinger?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you’re patient and compare listings carefully.

• Deal availability: 33.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 296 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 2.89% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 55.4% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $18,910, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2018 Kia Stinger's resale value?

The current average of $19,360 sits slightly below last year's $19,936.

That tells you the market has softened, which can work in your favor as a buyer but may mean a slower payoff if you plan to resell soon. The current pricing trend suggests future sellers may need to stay competitive on condition, mileage, and equipment to stand out. Well-kept examples with desirable trims and strong presentation should hold up better than rougher cars with accident history or missing features.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.9/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2018 Kia Stinger safe?

The 2018 Kia Stinger does not have a crash-test result cited in the provided data.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard safety equipment includes front and side-impact airbags, front and rear crumple zones, a child-seat anchoring system, electronic stability control, a tire pressure monitoring system, a reversing camera with dynamic guidelines, and front and rear parking sensors. The GT2 adds blind-spot detection, forward-collision warning, lane-departure warning, driver-attention warning, automatic high beams, adaptive cruise control, and lane-keeping assist, while those features are optional on the other trims.

One important caveat is rear visibility: the large C-pillars and sloping roof create poor rearward sightlines, so you’ll want to pay close attention to the available driver-assistance features when shopping used.

Should I buy a 2018 Kia Stinger or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2018 if:

• 33.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 55.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 2.89% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.9/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It arrives as the debut year for Kia’s all-new four-door sports car, which makes it the most notable early Stinger if you want the original statement model.

The bottom line: If you want the most distinctive early Stinger and you’re comfortable shopping carefully for condition, the 2018 is a compelling buy. If you’re more price-sensitive and want to compare against a newer version with similar core appeal, a later model year may be the safer path.
