How much does the 2018 Jeep Wrangler cost?

Prices have softened 10.23% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 7,839 listings available, which suggests solid inventory for comparison shopping.

Is the 2018 Jeep Wrangler a good car?

Yes — the 2018 Jeep Wrangler earns a 4.54/5 user rating and a 7.5/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Form and function and Cost effectiveness.

Owners consistently praise its pep, handling, and iconic design, and many also like the drivability improvements and features such as remote start. The overview also points to its strong off-road identity and unusual formula, which makes it a fit if you want a vehicle with real personality rather than a conventional SUV. Even so, the market still shows 36.1% good or great deals, so you can find value if you shop carefully.

Is the 2018 Jeep Wrangler reliable?

Owners rate it 4.54/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

User feedback points to a vehicle that owners feel good about living with over time, with praise centered on its pep, handling, and overall appeal. The expert review also describes it as a vehicle with a loyal following and a thoroughly improved latest model, which supports the sense that it can be a dependable long-term choice for the right buyer. If you want a used Wrangler, the main ownership risk is less about routine satisfaction and more about whether a specific example has been treated well and maintained carefully.

What should I look for when buying a used 2018 Jeep Wrangler?

At 72.3% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a thorough inspection of the body, frame, and interior condition. Because this model is often bought for its character and capability, it pays to focus on signs of hard use, incomplete repairs, and wear that could affect long-term ownership. If possible, compare several listings so you can separate a clean, well-kept example from one that has been used more aggressively.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Sahara adds step rails, silver-painted exterior accents, and 18-inch wheels, while the base Sport and top Rubicon use knobbier tires on smaller 17-inch rims. The Sahara’s interior also brings a soft leather steering wheel, stitched dash, padded handles, and a more upscale heavy-duty feel, though the cabin still shows uneven panel gaps and loose trim.
• Powertrain: The standard 3.6-liter V6 makes 285 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque, and a new eight-speed automatic helps it feel more relaxed. A turbocharged 2.0-liter four with eTorque is also available and is rated at 270 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque.
• Safety package: The Wrangler includes a backup camera, rear parking sensors, and blind-spot monitoring with cross-traffic alerts. No other driver assists are available, and the model is noted for lacking head curtain airbags.
• Infotainment: Sport models get a five-inch touchscreen, while Sport S and Sahara upgrade to a seven-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and SiriusXM. The available 8.4-inch system adds navigation with live traffic, a seven-inch gauge display, voice controls, 4G WiFi, an onboard owner’s manual, and seven USB ports.
• Fuel efficiency: The turbocharged 2.0-liter four is rated at 22 mpg city and 24 mpg highway, while the manual V6 is rated at 17 mpg city and 23 mpg highway. The V6 automatic returned 20 mpg over 515 miles in testing.

Which 2018 Jeep Wrangler trim should I buy?

The 2018 Jeep Wrangler is offered in 4 trim levels: Sport, Sport S, Sahara, Rubicon.

Here's the short version:

• Sport: This is the entry point, and it gives you the Wrangler experience at the lowest starting price. It makes the most sense if you want the core capability and styling without paying for extra comfort or tech.
• Sport S: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds the seven-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and SiriusXM, making daily use easier without moving too far up the price ladder.
• Sahara: This is the more street-friendly choice, with step rails, silver exterior accents, 18-inch wheels, and a more polished interior. It also pairs with the available Selec-Trac system when equipped with the turbo four.
• Rubicon: This is the most serious off-road trim, with Rock-Trac, locking front and rear Dana 44 axles, and an electronically disconnecting front sway bar. Choose it if trail capability matters more than comfort or road manners.

The safety content also notes that the Wrangler has limited driver-assistance equipment and lacks head curtain airbags.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2018 Jeep Wrangler?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you’re patient.

• Deal availability: 36.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 7,839 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.23% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 72.3% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $21,232, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2018 Jeep Wrangler's resale value?

The current average of $21,232 sits slightly below last year's $23,651.

That decline suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you as a buyer today but may also limit upside if you plan to resell soon. Even so, the Wrangler’s strong demand and loyal following help support values better than many mainstream SUVs. If you keep mileage reasonable and maintain the vehicle well, you should be in a better position when it’s time to sell.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.54/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2018 Jeep Wrangler safe?

The 2018 Jeep Wrangler earns a three-star rating for driver and a two-star rating for passenger in the partial frontal crash test from NHTSA, and the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety rated a 2017 Wrangler Unlimited as Good in small and moderate overlap front crash tests and Marginal in side-impact tests.

It earns a 4/10 safety score from our experts.

The Wrangler’s safety equipment includes a backup camera, rear parking sensors, and blind-spot monitoring with cross-traffic alerts. Even so, the safety content makes clear that the model lacks head curtain airbags and has structural compromises that leave occupants at higher risk of injury. That means you should treat safety as a major tradeoff if you’re considering this used SUV.

Should I buy a 2018 Jeep Wrangler or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2018 if:

• 36.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 72.3% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.23% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.54/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2018 model is the all-new JL generation, with thoroughly improved performance, practicality, and technology.

The bottom line: If you want the newest Wrangler in this price band, the 2018 is the one to target because it brings the JL redesign and strong owner satisfaction. If you’re especially price-sensitive, you can still shop carefully and focus on clean-history examples, but the 2018 is the better pick when you want the updated model without moving to a newer year.
