CarGurus Analysis: 2018 Honda Ridgeline

Summary
With 922 currently listed for sale and an average price of $20,810.00, 31.1% of 2018 Honda Ridgelines for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2018 Honda Ridgeline 4.8 / 5 stars.
67.9% of 2018 Ridgeline models on CarGurus are accident free.
Why it stands out
The 2018 Honda Ridgeline stands out because it takes a different approach to pickup-truck design. It uses unibody construction and a mechanical platform shared with the Honda Pilot and the Honda Passport, and it was built to blend utility with comfort rather than chase the rougher character of a traditional body-on-frame truck. That formula gives it a car-like driving experience, while features such as the dual-action tailgate and the in-bed trunk add practical touches that help define the Ridgeline’s identity.
For 2018, the Ridgeline’s 3.5-liter V6 produced 280 horsepower and 262 lb-ft of torque, and it was paired with a six-speed automatic transmission. All-wheel drive was available across the range, while front-wheel drive was still standard for buyers who wanted to save fuel. The cabin was also well equipped, with tri-zone automatic climate control and a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and higher trims could add leather upholstery, heated front seats, and available Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The spacious interior and strong standard equipment make it appealing as an everyday truck, especially for buyers who value comfort and convenience as much as utility.
There are a few tradeoffs to keep in mind. The Ridgeline’s unibody construction may not appeal to traditionalists, and its off-road capability is limited. It also has a lower towing capacity than rivals. Even so, the 2018 Honda Ridgeline remains distinctive because it offers a more refined, innovative take on the pickup formula, with a reputation for reliability and a layout that suits drivers who want a practical truck without giving up a smooth ride.

I really like the Ridgeline. Ive had it for 2 years and havent had a single problem. It rides and handles much better than my friends Tacoma and it performs well in snow. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a light duty truck.

So far, so good. It’s much more comfortable than the other cars we test drove and meeting all of our expectations. Features are amazing, especially including the truck bed audio and Apple Car Play. The truck is about average price for the year, but feels to be a good value. I can’t think of anything it’s missing in particular yet.

Has lots of great features, power seats , lumbar support, leather seats, stadium seating in the back. Compares favorably to Ford Ranger and Toyota Tacoma. It is missing XM radio capability. Very short sighted on Honda’s part.

Is the 2018 Honda Ridgeline a good car?
Yes — the 4.8/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction.
Owners consistently praise the Ridgeline’s comfort, spacious interior, and value for money, and the modern tech features also come up often in reviews. That lines up well with the truck’s everyday-friendly setup, since it’s designed to blend utility with a smoother, more car-like driving experience rather than chase a rougher truck feel. The market also shows 27.5% of listings as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.
Is the 2018 Honda Ridgeline reliable?
Owners rate it 4.8/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
Review feedback also points to a dependable, trouble-free ownership experience, with buyers repeatedly highlighting comfort and value over the long haul. That kind of owner sentiment matters because it suggests the truck is one you can count on for everyday use rather than just short-term appeal.
For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about the truck’s basic appeal and more about finding one with a clean history and consistent maintenance.
What should I look for when buying a used 2018 Honda Ridgeline?
At 67.6% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should start with a vehicle history report and confirm whether any prior damage affected structural or safety-related areas. After that, prioritize a pre-purchase inspection so you can check for uneven wear, repair quality, and signs that the truck’s comfort-focused features still work as intended. Pay close attention to overall condition, because a well-kept Ridgeline is likely to be a better ownership experience than one with hidden body or mechanical issues.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2018 Honda Ridgeline?

What is the 2018 Honda Ridgeline's resale value?
The current average of $20,818 sits slightly below last year's $22,856.
That decline suggests the market has cooled, which can make resale a little less favorable if you plan to sell soon. On the other hand, the Ridgeline’s strong owner satisfaction and practical appeal can help support demand when you eventually list it. If you buy well and keep the truck in good condition, you should be in a better position to protect value over time.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.8/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Should I buy a 2018 Honda Ridgeline or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2018 if:
- 27.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 67.6% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 8.92% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.8/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
Consider the 2017 if:
- At $19,132, the 2017 costs less than the current year's $20,818 average.
- It introduced the Ridgeline’s distinctive carlike truck formula.
The bottom line: If you want the stronger current-market balance of price, inventory, and owner satisfaction, the 2018 is the better primary target. If your priority is spending less upfront, the 2017 is the smarter secondary path, especially if you find one in excellent condition.
