CarGurus Analysis: 2018 Honda Ridgeline

Summary
With 919 currently listed for sale and an average price of $20,761, 28.7% of 2018 Honda Ridgelines for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2018 Honda Ridgeline 4.8 / 5 stars.
69.0% of 2018 Ridgeline models on CarGurus are accident free.
Why it stands out
The 2018 Honda Ridgeline stands out because it takes a different approach from a traditional pickup. It uses unibody construction and a mechanical platform shared with Honda’s SUVs, and it was designed to blend utility with comfort rather than chase a rough, body-on-frame feel. That formula gives it a car-like driving experience, while features such as independent suspension, an in-bed trunk, and a dual-action tailgate help it remain genuinely useful as a truck.
For 2018, the Ridgeline’s appeal also comes from its well-equipped cabin and practical everyday character. The second-generation model offers a spacious interior, tri-zone automatic climate control, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and available leather upholstery, heated front seats, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto. It is powered by a 3.5-liter V6 with 280 horsepower and 262 lb-ft of torque, and it promises up to 21 MPG combined. Buyers also get a multi-angle rear-view camera and Honda’s Intelligent Traction Management system, which lets the driver choose normal, snow, sand, or mud settings.
There are trade-offs, though. The Ridgeline’s strengths are comfort, innovation, and reliability, but it is also described as having limited off-road capability and lower towing capacity than rivals. For shoppers who want a light-duty truck that is easy to live with and unusually versatile, the 2018 Honda Ridgeline is distinctive precisely because it does not try to be a conventional pickup.

I really like the Ridgeline. Ive had it for 2 years and havent had a single problem. It rides and handles much better than my friends Tacoma and it performs well in snow. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a light duty truck.

So far, so good. It’s much more comfortable than the other cars we test drove and meeting all of our expectations. Features are amazing, especially including the truck bed audio and Apple Car Play. The truck is about average price for the year, but feels to be a good value. I can’t think of anything it’s missing in particular yet.

Has lots of great features, power seats , lumbar support, leather seats, stadium seating in the back. Compares favorably to Ford Ranger and Toyota Tacoma. It is missing XM radio capability. Very short sighted on Honda’s part.

| Year-Round Low | $20,710 |
| Year-Round High | $22,634 |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $22,580 |
| Change vs. Last Year | −8.28% |

Is the 2018 Honda Ridgeline a good car?
Yes — owners rate it 4.8/5, which points to strong overall satisfaction. Review feedback consistently highlights its comfort, spacious interior, and modern tech, along with good value for money. It also fits well if you want a truck that feels easy to live with and still offers practical utility. With 29.3% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is some room to shop selectively.
Is the 2018 Honda Ridgeline reliable?
Owners rate it 4.8/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
Owner feedback also points to a dependable, trouble-free ownership experience, with praise for its comfort and smooth, powerful ride. That kind of response suggests you can count on it as a long-term daily driver if the specific used example has been maintained well. For used buyers, the main risk is less about the model’s reputation and more about how well a particular truck has been cared for over time.
What should I look for when buying a used 2018 Honda Ridgeline?
At 69.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should start with a vehicle history report so you can separate clean examples from trucks with past damage. Then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the listing price looks unusually attractive. Focus your condition check on bodywork, alignment, and signs of wear that could point to harder use or incomplete repairs.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2018 Honda Ridgeline?
This is a moderate market, so you can be selective without expecting a deep bargain on every listing.
- Deal availability: 29.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 929 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 8.28% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 69.2% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $20,710, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2018 Honda Ridgeline's resale value?
The current average of $20,710 sits slightly below last year's $22,580.
That price movement suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy at a more favorable entry point. For a future seller, the softer trend means resale gains may be harder to realize unless the truck is especially clean, well equipped, and well documented. Strong condition and a clean history matter more when the broader market is already easing.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.8/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Should I buy a 2018 Honda Ridgeline or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2018 if:
- 29.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 69.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 8.28% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.8/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
Consider the 2017 if:
- At $19,238, the 2017 costs less than the current year's $20,710 average.
- It introduced the Ridgeline’s unusual carlike pickup formula.
The bottom line: If you want the stronger all-around shopping case, the 2018 is the better primary target because it combines solid owner satisfaction with a softer price trend and decent deal availability. If your main goal is to spend less, the 2017 is the better secondary path, especially if you find one in clean condition and can live with its older-market pricing and feature set.
