At 68% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

Start with a vehicle history report so you can separate clean examples from those with prior damage. Then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the truck has been used for hauling, commuting, or family duty. Focus on overall condition, signs of wear in the cabin and bed, and whether the truck’s practical features still work as intended.

What is the 2018 Honda Ridgeline's resale value?

The current average of $20,304 sits slightly below last year's $22,536.

That softer pricing can help you buy at a more favorable point in the cycle, but it also means future resale gains may be more limited if the market stays soft. If you plan to sell later, condition and mileage will matter even more because buyers will have plenty of comparable listings to choose from. A clean, well-maintained truck should still hold appeal thanks to its practical layout and broad everyday usefulness.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.8/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2018 Honda Ridgeline or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2018 if:

• 30.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 68% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.90% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.8/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2017 if:

• At $18,959, the 2017 costs less than the current year's $20,304 average.
• It introduced the Ridgeline's distinctive carlike pickup formula.

The bottom line: Choose the 2018 if you want the stronger current-market balance of price, availability, and owner satisfaction. If your priority is spending less upfront, the 2017 is the better value path, especially if you find one in excellent condition.
