How much does the 2018 GMC Sierra 2500HD cost?

Prices have softened 4.12% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 629 listings available, which gives you a solid pool of trucks to compare on price, trim, and condition.

Is the 2018 GMC Sierra 2500HD a good car?

With a 3.8/5 user rating, the 2018 GMC Sierra 2500HD looks like a solid but not flawless choice for heavy-duty shoppers. Owners commonly praise its powerful performance, comfortable seating, and smooth ride, and many also like the truck’s ample options and spacious legroom.

That lines up well with the truck’s use-case: you’re getting a heavy-duty pickup that can work hard while still offering a more upscale cabin than many rivals, especially if you want a Denali-oriented or comfort-focused setup. At the same time, the higher pricing noted for this model means you should expect to pay for that extra equipment and refinement.

With 27.7% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have a decent chance of finding a competitively priced example if you shop carefully.

Is the 2018 GMC Sierra 2500HD reliable?

The 2018 GMC Sierra 2500HD is positioned as a heavy-duty truck with strong capability and a more premium feel than many rivals, which makes it appealing if you want a capable long-term hauler with a comfortable cabin. Owners describe it as powerful and comfortable, and some also point to its smooth ride and broad feature set as reasons they trust it for regular use.

That said, some owners have raised concerns about rust on the undercarriage, which can affect confidence in heavy-duty use over time. For used buyers, long-term ownership risk is best managed by checking for corrosion, service history, and signs of wear before you commit.

What should I look for when buying a used 2018 GMC Sierra 2500HD?

At 68.7% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should run a vehicle history report on any truck you’re seriously considering and confirm whether prior damage was cosmetic or structural. A pre-purchase inspection should focus on the undercarriage, rust, and any signs of repair quality, especially if the truck has been used for towing or heavy work. Condition matters more than mileage alone here, so prioritize examples with clean records and consistent maintenance.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2018 GMC Sierra 2500HD?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you’re patient and compare listings closely.

• Deal availability: 27.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 629 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.12% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 68.7% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $37,861, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2018 GMC Sierra 2500HD's resale value?

The current average of $38,011 sits slightly below last year's $39,643.

That decline suggests the market has eased a bit, which can help you buy at a more favorable entry point today. For a future seller, it also means resale value may depend heavily on condition, mileage, trim, and whether the truck has a clean history. Well-kept examples with desirable equipment should hold up better than trucks with visible wear or accident history.

Should I buy a 2018 GMC Sierra 2500HD or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2018 if:

• 27.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 68.7% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.12% compared with last year.

The bottom line: The 2018 makes sense if you want a heavy-duty truck with a more upscale cabin and you’re willing to shop carefully for condition and history. If you’re price-sensitive, a nearby year may be worth comparing, but the 2018 is a strong target when you find a clean, well-priced example with the equipment you want.
