How much does the 2018 GMC Acadia cost?

Prices have softened 10.87% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 2,761 listings available, which suggests a healthy amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2018 GMC Acadia a good car?

Yes — the 2018 GMC Acadia earns a 4.79/5 user rating and a 7.17/10 expert rating. The model scores 8/10 across Form and function and Safety.

Owners consistently praise the spacious, comfortable cabin, the roomy design, and the safe driving experience. The feature set also comes through as a strength, especially if you want a family-friendly three-row crossover that feels well equipped.

For your use case, the Acadia makes the most sense if you want a practical family SUV with a comfortable interior and enough flexibility to suit daily driving or towing needs. With 32.6% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is also meaningful market opportunity if you shop carefully.

Is the 2018 GMC Acadia reliable?

Owners rate it 4.79/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a dependable, trouble-free ownership experience for many shoppers, with particular praise for the comfortable cabin and family-friendly usability. The expert notes also support that impression by describing the V6 as strong and eager, which helps the Acadia feel more capable in everyday use.

The main long-term ownership risk for used buyers is making sure you avoid neglected examples, especially since the transmission and lower-output engine can affect how satisfied you are over time.

What should I look for when buying a used 2018 GMC Acadia?

At 60.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a thorough pre-purchase inspection, especially if you are considering a higher-mileage example or one with prior bodywork. Focus on overall condition, signs of repair quality, and whether the equipment level matches the trim you want.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The SL trim is the most basic version, with the 2.5-liter engine and front-wheel drive only, while the SLE adds all-wheel drive availability and the V6 option. The SLT trims bring more comfort and convenience, and the Denali adds the most luxury content, but the base trim leaves you with fewer drivetrain choices.
• Powertrain: The 2.5-liter four-cylinder is described as inadequate for anything beyond commuter duty, while the 3.6-liter V6 is the stronger choice for towing, hauling, and fuller family use. Both engines use a 6-speed transmission that can feel lurchy at low speeds and sluggish at highway speeds.
• Safety package: Driver Alert I includes blind-spot monitoring, lane-departure warning, rear cross-traffic alert, and rear parking sensors. Driver Alert II adds lane-keep assist, auto high beams, front parking sensors, and low-speed forward-collision warning with auto braking, and some safety tech is limited to higher trims.
• Infotainment: The base setup includes a 7-inch touchscreen with Intellilink, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, and a 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot. Higher trims add an 8-inch touchscreen, navigation, and virtual gauges.
• Fuel efficiency: The 2.5-liter engine returns 21 mpg city and 26 highway, while the V6 returns 17 mpg city, 25 highway, and 20 combined.

Which 2018 GMC Acadia trim should I buy?

The 2018 GMC Acadia is offered in 6 trim levels: SL, SLE-1, SLE-2, SLT1, SLT2, Denali.

Here's the short version:

• SL: This is the least expensive way into the Acadia, and it still gives you a 7-inch touchscreen, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, tri-zone climate control, keyless ignition and entry, and a Wi-Fi hotspot. It makes sense if you want the lowest entry price and can live with the 2.5-liter engine and front-wheel drive only.
• SLE-1: This trim is the first step up if you want more flexibility, including all-wheel drive and the V6 option. It also adds LED running lights and satellite radio, making it a better fit if you want the stronger engine without jumping too far up the lineup.
• SLE-2: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds 18-inch alloys, heated power front seats, a power liftgate, front fog lights, roof rails, remote engine start, and standard second-row captain’s chairs. If you want the most useful mix of comfort and family convenience, this is the one to target.
• SLT1: This trim brings a more upscale feel with leather upholstery, upgraded front seats with power lumbar support, an upgraded driver’s display, a Bose stereo, and standard blind-spot monitoring, lane-departure warning, rear cross-traffic alert, and rear parking sensors. It suits you if you want a more premium daily driver with a stronger safety and comfort package.
• SLT2: This is the step for buyers who want more advanced equipment, including 20-inch wheels, a trailering package, heated second-row seats, lane-keep assist, auto high beams, front parking sensors, and low-speed forward-collision warning with auto braking. It is the right pick if you want the most capability and the most advanced driver-assistance content short of Denali.
• Denali: This is the luxury choice, with an 8-inch touchscreen, navigation, virtual gauges, heated and ventilated front seats, a heated steering wheel, xenon headlights, polished 20-inch wheels, a hands-free liftgate, and unique styling. Choose it if you want the most upscale Acadia and are comfortable paying for it.

The safety-package setup is important here: Driver Alert II is the trim-level safety upgrade to look for if you want the most complete driver-assistance coverage.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2018 GMC Acadia?

This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you have room to shop, compare, and negotiate.

• Deal availability: 32.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 2,761 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.87% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 60.9% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $15,393, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2018 GMC Acadia's resale value?

The current average of $15,398 sits slightly below last year's $17,276.

That softer pricing means future sellers may not see the same payoff they would have a year ago, especially if market conditions stay favorable to buyers. If you own one now, the current trend suggests you should expect resale value to depend heavily on trim, condition, and equipment.

Well-kept examples with the V6, desirable safety content, and strong presentation should hold up better than stripped or poorly maintained listings. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.79/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2018 GMC Acadia safe?

The 2018 GMC Acadia earns a Top Safety Pick rating from IIHS and five-star ratings in frontal collision tests, with four-star ratings in all other NHTSA tests.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

The Acadia includes standard 4-wheel antilock disc brakes, traction and stability control, a full airbag suite, and Teen Driver technology. The Driver Alert packages add blind-spot monitoring, lane-departure warning, rear cross-traffic alert, rear parking sensors, lane-keep assist, auto high beams, front parking sensors, and low-speed forward-collision warning with auto braking.

The main caveat is that the top IIHS result depends on the Driver Alert II package, so you should verify that the specific used example you are considering has the right safety equipment.

Should I buy a 2018 GMC Acadia or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2018 if:

• 32.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 60.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.87% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.79/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• GMC broadened V6 availability, improving flexibility for towing and everyday driving.

Consider the 2017 if:

• At $13,127, the 2017 costs less than the current year's $15,398 average.
• The redesign made the Acadia smaller, lighter, and more modern.

Consider the 2019 if:

• At $17,123, the 2019 costs more than the current year's $15,398 average.
• It feels more upscale and distinctive, with a refined cabin.

The bottom line: If you want the best balance of price, equipment, and broader V6 availability, the 2018 is the smart default. If your budget is tighter, the 2017 can save you money, while the 2019 makes sense if you want a more upscale feel and are willing to pay more for it.
